Default GMB high volume water pump

Well i ordered a GMB high volume water pump from summit the other day and it arrived in the mail and i opened it up...well it was shit to say the best.
I cannot believe it passed quality inspection if that company even has such a thing. The fastener on the pulley itself had a ding like somebody smashed it with a hammer, the metal plate that is welded to the fan blades was completely off center with some of the crappiest welds i have seen they weren't even consistent and had white residue build up behind the welds that flaked off. Also if you held the pump and spin the pulley you could see the fan blades getting closer and farther to the housing...also not centered, the inlet and outlet had rough burrs on the casting...overall just due to that pump i will never buy anything from GMB again...needless to say i returned and ordered the flowkooler pump for an extra $45

Why are you ordering a high volume water pump anyway? Stock ones do just fine, even for a stroked or worked motor. If you get to high volume of a water pump, it will move your coolant through the system to fast and thus not cooling down the coolant as much. I would just stick with a stock one.

Sounds more like it was damaged during shipping?

I had that one for all of 3000 miles and the bearing seized up on it going down the road and it flung the belt off lol

That's the POS I returned..I honestly don't like any of the pump option all are factory remains or dura last which I had used on my old 3.9 and the fan actually gouged into the casting and sent metal pieces all thru the cooling system after being used for 3 days (35 miles) I understand I don't need a high flow but flow looker is the only company I kinda trust...just so happens they don't make an OEM spec and is the most expensive

    Dont waste the Money Kev....

With the way the factory timing cover is built, the little weld on plate on the back of the fins does little to nothing to help pump flow.

I have a Flowkooler on Barney that I put on there ohh... in 01 or something like that. Been a good piece, but there was NO difference between it and a stocker on the temp gauge....

[BlakDak71] : I don't run oil, I run a special blend consisting of Hellman's mayo and the tears of a pregnant mermaid

[Kotta390] : My electric water pump puts out too much fuel at idle and is not a variable pump which makes it overheat in the summer at idle if I sit too long

[KotaRT] : Ed, you can have cake, as long as I get something in return
