Default Dakota Tubular Transmission Crossmember for 727 Transmission Swap ‘97-03

I plan on producing a transmission crossmember for for swapping the Chrysler 727 transmission in the '97-03 Dakota soon. I just installed a 727 transmission in my R/T for mock-up. It will utilize the heavy duty 727 poly mount. It will be similar to the crossmember used for the ’97-03 Dakota with the A518, 46RE, although the transmission adapter plate won’t be necessary. I will make it available with or without the HiPoTek X-Brace mounting tabs.

Again, it will be similar to this unit for the A518, 46RE as shown in the following pic:

    Edit:

Here's a pic of the 727 transmission Crossmember W/O the X-Brace mounting tabs for guys with something like a 6-point roll bar set up that may not require the extra strength of an x-brace.

Note: The stock transmission crossmember weighs 13# and the stock mount and adapter plate weighs 5#. This tubular crossmember weighs 7.5#, and the heavy duty 727 mount weighs 2#. So that’s 9.5# compared to the stock weight of 18#.

I'm planning on having one mocked up within the next two weeks, hopefully sooner.

Ok excellent keep us posted. I'd to just install yours straight away instead of starting with the adapter mount.

When I finally tear this 727 apart to see what needs upgrading, I will definitely hit you you up.

Your gonna love the quality! I know my 46re setup fit perfect in it and didn't have to monkey around lining the transmission up. Richard is the man.

Finally found time to install the 727 cross member, it fits like a glove, really opened up the area making it easier to get to the long tube collectors, weighs less, looks better....I'm a happy mofo right now.

Anyone thinking about a 727 has to get one of these, way better than an extension on a stock mount

    Thanks Richard....

Dave- what are you using for a loop. Mine won't work with the shorter 727. (one of Alan's)

I suspect you have a pretty clean set-up under there Jon, but for some reason I can't get the pic large enough to see it.
