    Default Reputable Tranny Shops

I'm making up a master list of reputable transmission shops around the country for those that need a decent place to get repairs done.

If you know of, (or have done business with) a good, reputable tranny mechanic or shop in your area, please list them here. I'll add them to the list and sticky it.

I went to Ammco Transmissions and they did a horrible job my truck was faster with the tranny sliping a little bit then when i got it back from them. They charged me $2450.00. So I would not go there.

Though I haven't had personal experience with them so far, ATS Diesel out here in Denver is supposed to be pretty good...most of their stuff is custom, too.

As far as shops I HAVE had experience with, a little Mom 'n Pop shop in Fresno, CA called 'B&M Transmissions'. 3rd-generation owner, and the guy's dad (who still worked there) helped design the B&M Shift kits for Chevy transmissions. They did a pretty awesome job on my rebuild, and was on the cheap. I had it rebuilt at about 55-60k, and I'm over 165k now on the clock, still going strong *knocks on wood*.

They do great work I had them do my tranny at 50k miles and he went in and redid about everything in the tranny added extra clutches the whole shabang. So far its last to 108k miles with most of them being behind high hp 408 motors without a hiccup

I cannot believe that JVX is on that list! If you need someone in the midsouth to build a tranny contact me and I'll hook you up. 40yr veteran that doesn't sell a stock build as something special.

I haven't personally used them but a Dak owner in I know in Dallas has and he beats the crap out of it behind a Boosted 408 with NO issues.

I don't know if they are still in business. They built a 46re for me 5 or 6 years ago, and the owner, John, discovered a driveshaft vibration that apparently was a tech bulletin on the RT's in 1999. It had shook the output bushing apart, causing a leak. A previous shop did a terrible job of repairing it. He convinced Dodge to replace the driveshaft, tailshaft and rebuild it despite the warranty being expired.

    Good shop.

Exclamation Shops in Chicago land and warranty?

I am looking for reputable trans shop in the Chicago land area. Can anyone recommend one or do should I order from http://www.transmissionsone.com/ and get a Level 2 Viper kit?

Also, should I expect any kind of warranty on a built transmission? What scares me is I drop 3K on a new trans and drive it as a daily driver and something breaks.

This is from another thread and I thought it might get lost elsewhere.

for those in the Tampa Florida area, my friend Doug Grant is your best option.
He is a master tech in all areas of auto repair, and a transmission expert.
I haven't told him or gotten his permission to post a number, and he works out of a very small shop.
He built my Fairbanks/Revmax equipped 46RE and it is the nicest shifting tranny i have ever driven.
Contact me and i will get you hooked up.

I have a pretty good guy, here in NJ, if that helps at all.
