Thread: Dakota stock 1/4 miles

Hybrid View

    Default Dakota stock 1/4 miles

Just trying to get the difference between a stock CC r/t and a stock CC 318 5 speed. Assume that both are club cabs, stock, and that the 5 speed is an average driver.
    Quarter mile of...
    stock r/t?
    318 5 speed?

    As always... It depends.

Assuming same gear ratios and tire sizes... I say it all comes down to the driver. I think stock for stock, they're both low to mid 15 second trucks

The stick could get the initial pull but the auto would reel it in, you can only bang shift a nv3500 so much haha trust me i know

Say what? I don't care what the manual is or what it's in, I've got em on the launch, if anything they real me after were done shifting.

Tough question to answer since no two stock trucks ever run the same.

In factory form my truck ran a low 15 - I forget what the original owner's time slip said.

I'm gonna have to agree and say it comes down to the driver.

I ran 15.4's with my stock CC. Not unheard of. 15.4 for a stock RC is actually slow, most guys put them about 15.2.

I ran a 15.06 @ 91 in my CC when it was stock. It's very doable.

    promasterpaint@yahoo.comLet's see it then.
If it's real I'll admit it. I have never been one of those people that are always right. When I'm wrong I'm wrong but you gotta prove it first..
And like I said earlier I never thought these trucks would have that large of a spread being automatic. But hey looks like I was wrong so your time is possible, so let's see it wise guy.

Club cab isn't going to tack a second onto a quarter mile time lol.

And my truck was stock when it ran the low 15....so as previously stated, depends on the driver.

Never ran my truck box stock.. but with a Cai, hypertech, 27" street tire, and a msaine trans it went 14.9. So box stock I'm guessing 15.3-15.6

16-15.4 equals .6 so I never said a second.... And I would be more than willing to put my bottom dollar on the auto rt out launching and out running that 5 speed ALL DAY LONG.

What about drivetrain loss from a standard vs auto

Of course that's taken into consideration but were talking about a drag race....bet my auto out launches any 5 speed most of the time, consistency is what will prevail. The drivetrain loss won't make up for the 3 cars lost at the line

You should look under your truck on the axle to see you don't actually have a posi, like Bryan said, you have a Trac-loc. Drive a Chevy?

Okay then I'm totally lost. Are you just arguing about what dodge calls it? Cause isn't it still a positive traction rear end? "posi" if there is a difference can you explain it to me cause I didn't realize there was.
^ and I'm not being a smart ass is there a difference? I've never claimed to know everything.
