    Default Custom Race Headers

Some of you may know already that I will be making a jig for some race headers. These will be similar to Jess Dale longtubes with some tweaks. Check back here for updates and post if your interested. Currently I am waiting for a few more supplies to arrive so that I can make the jig then make a set.

Primary tube size is going to be 2" to a 3.5" collector. All tubes will be as equal in length as I can get them. End of collector will be as far back as the trans crossmember.

You might want to invest in the program "pipemax" before you decide on primary length.

I've actually already looked at pipemax. Lots of great info. I've already pulled my headers off and marked them for where I'm going to make changes to them. Can't wait to get started on the jig next week! The headers will come with dual o2 bungs in the collectors as a standard. I'll put plugs in 2 of them and the other 2 are for the factory sensors. That way if you want to hook up a dual wideband you can without having to go to the exhaust shop. If you don't then simply leave the plugs in.

I can definitely look at doing this for you. Shouldn't be too big a deal. Just need to get the flanges.

Good idea but least important factor.

Chasing 1 to 2 hundred rpms of scavenging overlap iirc. May as well try to get what can be gotten but primary length will need to be adjustable/tested/readjusted for varying cams out there if it's going to be chased.

I read 16" from collector to muffler was optimal...With a few inches tollerance.

I definately want to try and make them from stainless steel however the cost will be the deciding factor. I have a few connections for stainless I just need to figure out what I need for a full set and go from there.

Well I made some good progress on the headers today but still have a long way to go. Going to end up making quite a few changes by the looks of it so will take a little more time. Should be a great set of headers when I'm done. Just have to finish the mock up for the passenger side then I can finish the jigs and get working on a set. Will keep you posted.

Well I've been busy the last couple days on some jigs. I've made a few changes and almost have the jigs done. Just need to make a few changes to the passenger side mock up and finish the jig. I am trying to make it so these aren't stepped either. Will be a straight from 2" to the 3-1/2" collector. I also will likely be selling a new set of port plates with the headers that are blended and opened up on the header side to allow for a nice smooth transition to the 2" pipes. These port plates will be a 1 piece 1/2" steel plate. For those of you that have a newer set of steel port plates I'll charge a core fee and will refund it when I receive your old plates. Hopefully next weekend I'll be doing some more test fitting on other year trucks.

For those of you interested but not willing to pull your a/c I'm going to start a new thread and if there is enough interest then I'll make up a jig for those as well but would need to have a few in for sure.

Yeah I've had my a/c pulled for a few years now. There is the odd time I miss it but most of the time I cruise with my windows down anyway! Thinking about pulling the heater core too!
