so for those of you who have it in the fender its not physically bolted in? i just assumed you put it in behind where it is and screw in from the outside into the computer in the original mounting holes.... are you saying its just kinda floating in there? i hate rattles and the potential that a bump could break something...id want it secured somehow..
Mine just sits in there. Been like that for years with no issue. I basically almost ride on my bumpstops so i've had some pretty bone jarring bumps, enough to hit my head on the roof. If it rattles I couldn't hear it anyway. It's got 2 harnesses going into from either end so it doesn't move but a 1/2" either way.
Why not extend all wires and place under passenger seat? I want to do this one of these days.

That's ~200 more solder/failure points. It can and has been done, but I would strongly recommend against it.

Yeah i agree alot of soldering points and places to fail.
