    Default pcm relocations...any pics?

Some of you guys have relocated the PCM out of the engine bay. I'm curious where all you've done it and how difficult/in depth was it? I'm trying to get some ideas, unfortunately I don't think there are very many options without unwrapping the harness to get some more slack for the 3 pcm plugs. I kinda wanted to avoid that because I have a feeling that would take a good while to complete.

Pete relocated his to the glove box. I no longer use a PCM, but I have the DFI in the passenger kick panel.

Mine is inside my passenger fender. You just need to route the harness thru a hole in the back of the fender near the firewall.

If you look right to the left of the air filter you can see the harness going through the hole. If you look inside the fender in the middle you can see the PCM.

I'm pretty sure my plugs don't fit through that hole. It is like 1/8" too small in diameter or something. Did you have to do any type of extending of the harness at all? How is the PCM secured now?

IIRC you have to take those plastic covers off the of plugs on the wire side and then they'll fit, I didn't modify the harness or plugs whatsoever. The PCM just sits in there, it has wires going into it from both ends of the fender, it isn't going anywhere.

This shit isn't as easy as it seems. Even once the pcm is back in the fender, there's no room to get your damn hands in there to plug it in!

I have 2 wires, a ground near the pcm and a bundle coming from the headlight area that are holding me up from putting it back in the fender right now. It is break time to ponder a little more...

covers are a cop out. they make all sorts of covers for parts on the LX cars and they are so stupid. make whats there look better instead of covering it.

Agree. The whole idea behind cleaning up an engine bay is removing things you don't need and relocating things you do. Adding more pieces like covers don't do anything but make them stick out even more.

The passenger's side of our engine bays are stupid simple to clean up. The driver's side is a pain in the ass.

If I just wanted it to look better I'd have no problems covering it. I need to move it though. It is in the way.

I don't know about you, but I think 1LoudRT made his engine bay look incredible. A lot of stuff is covered. That sure wasn't a 'cop out'.

i do love what he has done with that truck, his engine bay looks real good, but in my opinion it still is a cop out. covers are like opening a hood an seeing another hood. smoke and mirrors. if that's what your going for that's what matters.

like the new CTS-V's. awesome motors, but open the hood and all you see is plastic covers. stupid.

does this look good to you?

I think rt dak's looks about perfect. It is hard to accomplish that with a turbocharger under the hood, the 99 style washer fluid bottle for methanol/water, and the air conditioner.

if you don't mind seeing the pcm in the fender, do it. putting it in the glove box took a really , really long time.

I still don't understand A) how you get the pcm back inside the fender and B) how you plug the 3 harness plugs into it once it is back there.

Put the PCM in back near the hood hinge and then slide it forward. Then you plug the 2 plugs that come in from the back in while it's back near the hinge. Then slide it forward near the hole in the fender and plug the other plug that comes in from the front.

    what he said ^ ^ ^

or take off fender to plug in ECM, put fender back on.

another way is to do wat SinCity did a few yrs back... run harness under wiper cowl then plug in inside fender....
