I can second this. I did the 8.25 to 9.25 not even a month ago. The only things I had to swap were the u bolts and the spring places just as Filbert mentioned.

Id guess close to 200
Header ball joint? Muffler bearings. Blinker fluid. Winter air in your tires......
You mean an exhaust gasket?
So Sunday I finally had time to get the work done. stuck the drums in the blast cabinet and knocked off the white paint. Ended up spraying a couple coats of primer grey on them. Pulled diff cover off...
Its nothing but a sound barrier and an annoyance
whats the leaf count on your current set up?
and the D thickness based on leaf count. But yes i read them as direct swap as well
From the folks over at pirate4x4

a high mile set that have sagged should do you just fine lol
now that i think about it i want to say all youd need to do is swap rear ends with a 2wd model. i think the center bolt in the spring is long enough tp properly catch on the top side
swap rear end and springs?
Axles being under slung? you mean a leaf over axle setup? Ive got an 02 SXT 2wd and mines a leaf under. Maybe thats the difference....
possibly a shackle inversion as well
i think its a spring rate difference and number of leafs
Mines an 02 and I believe the donor was an 01
Nothing? Someones got to know the answer to this.
bueler?
That I thought there were dakota axle assemblies that were made with disk brakes instead of drum brakes
I could have sworn there were axles that came with disk brakes.
All the 9.25 rears I called on had the 9 inch drum setup. On the big plus side for the smaller drums is everything is a lot less expensive to replace lol
So I think Im about ready to install this thing. Is the driveshaft to pinion flange the same between the 8.25 and the 9.25?
Thinking this is the most likely answer
So what about the mystery tag that has the 2211 stamped on it?
Its not the drums. Its the swap to a 9.25 and now a 3.92.
The shit I have to put up with around here lol
