Quick update:
Work has been SLAMMED since the virus hit, and I've still got a massive backlog of repair orders (being the only diesel tech and vintage tech is a blessing and a curse). I haven't...
Welcome! I dream of the day my truck moves under its own power so I can do a burnout.
Got the headers back on, the coolant temperature sending unit in, cooling system filled back up, some more wiring mock up done, and did some adjusting on the carb for easier cold start.
I should start piecing together a brake system in the next couple of weeks.

Not much progress working overtime during this pandemic.
- Wired in the oil pressure gauge
- Drilled one of the water pump block plates for the coolant temp sender
- Working on installing a PCV...
Ran it for a bit today to get it hot before doing the first oil change and found the 440source billet rear main cap is leaking oil... and I siliconed it in pretty good. Guess I’ll do the first oil...
Starting to work on the electrical now.

Awesome build!
I have moved the truck to the new house so now I can tinker on it on the weekends, since my work was almost an hour away. I also picked up some goodies from my uncle who used to work in Nascar. ...
I know when I finally get mine driving I'll probably tow it to some local shows for sure.
Welcome fellow bayou brother.

I've got quite a few heat cycles on the engine now and it seems to be dialed in... at least as far as idling. My projects have been moving super slow since I moved. Here's a recent video.

I'm still undecided on the exhaust. I think right now I'm going to trim the headers down and install collectors that will end up around 1/4" above the hood level.
I got it running :)

Uploading videos as I type this. I have one from during the initial cam break-in, one just after dropping to 1,000rpm, and then one idling with a walkaround! Hoping to have this truck movable under...
Trimmed the positive cable stud of the 2003 starter to fit on the big block.

Alright folks, I'm back with some updates. I just need a carb, return regulator, fuel, some gauges, and I can fire this thing up.
...
No pictures to post up yet, but here's a short version of what I've done since the last update:
- 20gal fuel cell is mounted in the bed
- 90gph Aeromotive fuel pump is mounted below the cell

Yep it's a 440 source, and I siliconed the whole thing in. Hopefully it doesn't leak. I picked up a new toy so I haven't spent much time working on this...
That's the 440source fabricated aluminum cover with their billet adjustable timing indicator.
Yes, the original big block blew around 1998 which was when this engine was built and swapped in. It had 7,000 miles on it when I pulled it out in 2014, then completely re-built it.
I’m still working on mine. I used the Schumacher kit, and I’m going carb with a built 727.
Looking good!
Guess I oughta post some specs on the engine.
Engine highlights include:
1969 cast 440 block overbored 0.040”
Factory forged crankshaft
Molnar billet rods with ARP bolts
Diamond Racing forged...
