Summer 2014 TOTQ Winner- 66shelby

First off I would like to thank Madboy for the nomination and thanks DRTC for the opportunity.
My first vehicle was a 2000 Dakota sport RC Bright white and I immediately fell in love with the dakotas. I soon found the dakota rt forum and instantly wanted an R/T/. I sold the white truck and bought a 1999 R/T RC black.

I have owned this vehicle for a little over 3 years now and its not only a hobby but an obsession. The truck was basically bone stock except for a sound system. After I purchase the truck it had some hail damage that was very light and I have been taking classes on painting and had a job painting and wanted a challenge so I ended up repainting the whole truck. I went with a black base coat instead of the factory color because I wanted a deeper black. I put 4 coats of clear on and start stick wet sanding it with 600 grit and worked my way up. Throughout the time I have been doing some mods to it as well but i’ll keep it short and to the point. I decided that I wanted to get the motor rebuilt and make it a quick 360 and so the build began. I started by taking everything out including the front suspension. I figure since the motor will be out mays will go ahead and clean up the engine bay and repaint along with rebuilding the whole front suspension. I wanted to go with a nice muscle theme and wanted the engine bay flat black with polished fasteners and a hemi orange motor. Thats when things started getting crazy, I listed it all under mods and tried my best to relocate or deleted stuff in the engine bay that I didn’t need. Since the truck was down I also wanted to upgrade the brakes and found out the cadillac cts v had the same bolt pattern as our trucks. Thanks to Brandon Burns he made brake brackets for me. I will let the pictures do most of the talking for me.
