Yes I am asking about turbo setups.. Anyone run a turbo with Mopar PPH headers? If so pictures or fab work ideas would be great. Cause I take it the tune is basically the same road if you go SCT even if its turbo or sc... Just entertaining ideas, might ditch the paxton novi 2000.

I take it that you are looking at getting a rear mount set up?
Normally a front mount turbo will require one regular header (or stock ex. manifold) and a turbo header for mounting the unit.

If a rear mount turbo will be just as good power wise then yes. I did spend a few minutes surfing around and saw I would have to use a turbo header for a front mount. Just all this talk of belt slip, and my game plan for my engine would put me in trouble like a few on here. Plus I am thinking I could save weight and load on the engine.

Chas Hoffner just did a rear mount set up on his truck...
Not sure if he used Mopar headers though.

IIRC the rear mounts come in after the cat so what ever you have forward of that is not an issue.
KRC Performance is the only one that I know for sure that has the rear mount kits available.
You could ask them about any fine details.
Advice: Go over to Bionicdodge and ask Billy White (BillyW) you will get a quicker answer out of him.

Depends on what you classify as custom?
Getting all the pieces together and doing it all yourself!! Go for it!!
Buying all the same pieces already boxed up for you and you still have to fit and weld them up? Then yes KRC has that.
Buy a kit that has all the pieces ready to just bolt in and go?? Don't think anyone does that.
BUT WAIT A MINUTE?? Wasn't there some videos of an R/T that was testing the STS system for Dakotas?? Maybe give them a call and see if they have anything. Companies don't always advertise stuff they have especially when it's a small market.

I saw that thread and it made my gears start turning in my head. I would have to run aluminum pipe for sure if I did that. So I could save weight! Trying to save weight and have less drag on the motor would be a win win.

I would probably just buy the best pieces from whatever good turbo companies are out there. Then weld it up kinda like Chas did. Just wondering what down side is to this power wise vs a front mount turbo.

Both STS and KRC make universal rear mount kits for us. TTi makes a Dakota specific front mount kit, with less fab work invloved. TTi also includes an A/W intercooler with it.
From what I understand, Both front and rear turbos can make good power for our trucks. There is really no down side to either, as far as applications for the R/T.
Turboed R/T ran a rear turbo for a while and made good HP and Tq. He's going to a front mount set up now.
Your power will depend on turbo size and efficiency, amount of desired boost you want to make, along with fuel tuning, and air intake cooling.
And to some extent, power will depend on what other mods you have done to the truck.

The Build Your Own Turbo Kit website at http://www.junkyardturbos.com/index.php has a lot of useful general info on turbos.

Turbo Lag???
I hate even hearing that Term!!
Turbo lag for the most part is a mis-sized Turbo issue.
With the availability of Custom sized turbos today there is absolutely no reason to have a Turbo that lags to the point it's an issue.
Some Turbo Lag is a good thing as you don't want all you Boost right now at 1500 rpms for driveability reasons. But if it's an issue, you turbo isn't right for your application.
You can call any of the Turbo MFGs and they can get you the correct Turbo for your application the first time.

If I had to phrase that sentence it would read more like
Full boost at 1500rpm is undesirable when boost and torque delivery are non-linear with respect to throttle position. :nana:

Exactly.
1/8th throttle and you drive away from a light with the traffic.
3/16th throttle and like you hit a 300 shot of nitrous or flipped a light switch...you are blowing the tires off and steering madly to try and keep from killing innocent people in front of you.
What could possible be the problem with that?

Hey I like blowing the tires off, just not around the police. At the track its a thrill when it dead hooks... Still want to dabble with a turbo setup after reading all the info from these guys.
