mainly im considering it for weight savings... but i want to keep my range around 100 miles. which roughly means with standard sizing im looking at a 12 gallon.

it would hang where the stock one does to keep things simple... but.. can i really expect to save any substantial weight? the stock 22 gal looks to be pretty flimsy and doesnt appear to weigh that much.

would a standard fuel cell accept the stock pump and whatever else is in there? im thinking it would be more trouble than its worth for my application. im not really looking to relocate it to the spare tire area and frame mount the pump and redo the lines and all that jazz....

thoughts?

sounds like more work than it's worth to me.

The stock tank is actually pretty light, I doubt there would be much weight savings. Plus if you wanted to keep it in the stock location, you'd have to go with a custom built cell ($$$), I don't think the regular cells would fit in the stock location. Unless you need more fuel, or want to move the cell to the rear for better weight distribution, it's probably not worth the effort.

It would save the weight of whatever gallons smaller it is, but it's moot since no one races full anyway.
