what is the deal with the rear leaf spring mod, i hear you remove the rear clamp and add a clamp to the front, what does this do and if anyone has done this could you walk me thru.

It's exactly as you said. It's a poor-man's caltracs. Works on the same principle. Cut off the rear clamps and add a clamp to the extra leaf in the front.

Per Larry Shephard, it's called "dynamic lift". Essentially what happens is; when you accelerate from a stop, the front clamp makes the leaf more rigid, while removing the rear clamp lets the leaf fan out, which applies downward pressure on the rear end and improves traction.

does it ride any differently? and how noticeable are the results people are getting?

also i think i tried to remove one of the rear clamps a long time ago and couldnt get it to budge, how do you get them off?

It will feel a little different when you take off and also, in hard turns it will roll over a little more.

I used a pry bar and a set of vice grips. I pried up both edges of the clamp, then attached the vice grips to bend the piece until it broke off.

wher does the front clamp need to be,and also does this help in the front end raise up to shift the load back more

I didn't actually add a clamp up front. I have Cal Tracs, so I didn't see any necessity. It goes on the next leaf back from the first clamp, in about the same location on the spring.

It's not so much the front end lifting (according to Shep), as much as the rear end pushing down. If that results in the front lifting because you have that much power, then so be it.

i have slapper bars on the truck now is this going to matter with this mod,and if ther is no clamp on the rear anymore is the springs going to slide out or anything like that.
