d u have to have both of them to not over heatPretty sure, not 100%, that you can. Mine's a '99 so no first hand knowledge but I know I've read of it working, at least for some. Indiana shouldn't be a problem I would think.

if mine came with both, it would only have one now.

i think you'd be fine with one or the other. if you keep the electric, you may run into a coupe days/weeks in the summer where you'll see higher temps.

why do you ask anyway... did yours fail?

I had my clutch off a while back I live very close to where you live (within 25 miles) I didnt like where my temps sat with no clutch fan. If it where me I would order a aftermarket e-fan if you are not going to run a clutch fan. Either the black magic 180 or the Grand Cherokee fan. That way you are sure to not have any temparture issues. I tried to call you when I was in scottsburg but I think I had the wrong number as some old lady answered the phone.

And how much do these 12" puller fans pull for CFM?? What brand are they, do they come with a shroud that will cover the radiator??

To the OP, the stock e-fan is not enough to keep your truck cool in the summer by itself, especially if you are running the A/C. There are several different options available for upgraded e-fans. I probably have one of the more expensive options right now with a 16" SPAL fan, custom shroud made for the '00+ Dakota, and SPAL fan-pwm-v3 controller. But I never have cooling problems.

i wonder what the viper fan pulls on low speed... that's all i ever use, and rarely at that--- unless im in stop-and-go for a while, just moving the truck through air is enough to maintain mine. lol- yes, that is speaking from when it was daily driven in NC, and when i still had a/c.

No they do not come with a shroud. I will have to double check the CFM rating for them on monday, and I believe the brand was JVTR, but I will double check on that too. I have used these fans for quite a while, and the only things I have ever had to do to any of them have been make a shroud and get an install kit from some place like summit to have them temperature activated. They are identical to the FAL fans you would buy from summit and jegs for 200+ except these dont have that shroud and are modular. I will get some pix of the ones I have for my truck when I can get a chance. (ankle surgery was yesterday) Please also keep in mind that I am going to be running an aftermarket radiator with mine as well. 3" core aluminum race radiator to be exact.

12 CX racing puller fan flows 1130cfm to answer your question.. About 30 bux each. He has 14" puller fans as well but I dont have a price on that right now.

I say about on the price because of shipping. To me near chicago it was 28 and change for the fans.

The flex a lite xtreme 180 pulls 3300 CFM. Those 2 might not move enough air to keep it cool. ~2200 CFM. I know down here during summer months my FAL is almost not enough with the AC on and idling in traffic. With a shroud though they might do well.

Well for my setup it will work, I wont have AC, and its not going to see very much street time. It will be street legal (KINDA) but not see street time much. And I say kinda because in IL an aftermarket muffler on the vehicle is Illegal (stupid cops tried that with me already, Illegal muffler with a magnaflow exhaust on my truck)

I just find FAL fans as over priced in many ways personally.

In southern Michigan, my clutch fan alway sufficed. I ditched it for a Flex-A-Lite 180 to spare a few hp and it cools fine. With my '98, either fan cools sufficiently in my area.

I know its not the same but I ran a stock 01 electric fan on my heavily modded 94 and never had any issues, but I did not have A/C either. I believe for the most part that is the reason for the electric fan. To aid while a/c'n up. I lived in FL at that time too. But probably apples to oranges. Its a good fan though

I've been running around for 3 months now with just the stock e-fan.. (no clutch fan or shroud) I had hemifever turn the fan on at 185*. granted it's always running my temp never goes past 1/4-3/8 on the gauge.. I drove around on some 90* days also, no problem... but I dont have a/c either
