Has this been done yet? I've seen plenty of other makes of cars/trucks doing things along this line. Or is their so many of our trucks out there, it isn't worth the effort. Dan

There used to be one a long time ago, but I'm not sure if it's still up.

You would think we would have one. Seeing that these trucks are getting older/ wrecked/junked. Plus I dont see alot of them around. Dan

I have always wondered the same thing. I don't think that it has been done by anybody but it would be nice to be able to keep track of trucks and where they are. I wonder if it is possible through the club.

A registry is a way to keep track of where these trucks are. It also helps to tell how many are still in existene and how many have been destroyed.

If I'm not mistaken that is how the club first started.I know when I first got my truck {feb-99} went on line and the first link to me to the R/T registry and you could from there to theclub and the yahoo mailing list..I also remember a few people being confused between their registry # and the club membership#..

Ahhh, gotcha. If everyone viewed our trucks the way we do it might be worth it, but most folks just see 'em as regular trucks. Plus it would also help if we had exact production #'s, would be a lot easier if DC had numbered them.

agreed... but, you could use VINS as the numbers to keep track of. not as short or recognizable as a "132 of 1100" plaque-- but do'able.
it irks me that we STILL have not been able to get some better production info out of chrysler.. with the amount of automation in that factory, it is literally impossible that they dont have records of the sequencing...

Has anyone ever written to say Galen Govier to look into production numbers. He seems like someone who might be able to get that kind of info.
Just a thought............

Yeah I hear ya, heck my 1964 Chevy swb stepside p/u even has a number stamped into the firewall stating what number it was. Guess we just need to some how contact mother mopar. Which will be a PIA by the sounds of it. I donno just thought it was a cool idea. Heck damn Dodge Cummins Diesels have a registry. Why cant we lol. Dan

i was a member of the registry, i wish mopar was like pontiac, i had a 1969 firebird, i sent my vin to the pontiac historical society, the sent me the original order form from the dealer , break down on the options and color code, full specs and scematics on the car etc. copy of the original window sticker i knew the date of production, and where. i have my original brochure for the rt, the window sticker, orginal press kit with slides for the 1999 dakota rt. you would think dodge with the vin code or the door tag on the driver door could tell us production numbers, theres got to be a trim code or option code to differ the rt from regular dakota. my door tag says my 1999 solar yellow dakota regular cab was built 12/98

you hit the nail on the head. until these trucks miraculously have some sort of resale value, chrysler big wigs will not care to look for the #'s. to them it's probably just a waste of time to try and find them. unless we get Mr. Bossman's office number and have every member of the DRTC call him all day long asking for certain cab/color configs. doubt anyone there would take the time to look up VINs for us enthusiasts either.

I'd be willing to build it. I can program in PHP/MySQL and we can host it on this site. I am a websitesite programmer for Harvard so would be pretty easy to implement.

im all for it, i think something should be done, other than the viper, the dakota rt was the closest thing dodge had to a legit musclecar, i think something should be drawn up, and sent direct to chrysler. compared to production of the the regular dakota line, and to lets say the camaro and mustang, there are just a handful of these trucks built from 1998 till they were done away with. these trucks arent gets any newer, and before long there will be even less around.

I am contacting to find a way to get production numbers on the Dakota
Club
Cab & Reg Cab R/Ts. We are trying to further add information to our
Dakota
R/T data base. So if you could point me in the right direction that
would
be great. These trucks are getting older, and we fear we will never
know
the exact production numbers. Thank you for you're time. Daniel

By the looks of it after reviewing the other sites info. They must have had some changes in their customer service area. Cause it seems 06 they would give info out. Now they wont in 08, we need to find a R/T owner that works for corporate mopar lol. Dan

I think that even if we don't have all the numbers, it would be nice to do such a thing... Someone should start it and we should have a special place on the site for that home made "Registration" list... I'd be in for sure

That's what I was thinking. Require it for registration to the site.

Look on my website in the Misc stuff section. There you will find some of the breakdown. Ma Mopar did give us the info we wanted, but as soon as the germans came in they would no longer give out the info.
This all came from a letter that was mailed to a few of our members. I would KILL to get a copy of it, but I cant even remember who had them.

Ok for a class project I will be creating a registry. The only thing I need to know is a good site that will show me what info the VIN has. Also what part of the VIN designates an "R/T"? Is the "Z" engine code enough or could that also designate a Ram?
I only want to allow Dakota R/Ts to be entered.

The Z doesn't mean that it's a R/T... The Z means it's a 5.9... you can have a QC with the 5.9 and the Z in the VIN
So I guess that you'll have to get which number says the cab configuration... if it's either a RC or CC and have the Z... than it's R/T
5.9 R/T
05-02-2008, 09:40 PM
ok here are some info
digit 7 meaning...
CC would be 2-3
RC would be 4-6
QC would be 1-8
can any one confirm that???
( I'm right in 23/23 cases with the ones I saw on ebay and auto trader...... 2 would be CC and 6 would be RC and 8 would be QC)
