View Full Version : 2010 Nats Hotel Poll

mtlcafan79

I would like to get a bit of a head count for planning purposes. How many people are planning on attending the Nats and staying at the host hotel? The more people we get the better the rate. Also, if people can come in Thursday night and stay through Sunday the rates drop significantly as well.

The host hotel is on Rt 11 and is exactly 12 miles from the gate at Carlisle. There is parking for 600 cars , two bars/restaurants, pool, conference rooms etc. There is an Autozone nearby for those that need to replace crank sensors in the parking lot, a Hooters, a Denny's within stumbling distance, etc. The hotel has a contract that I have to negotiate with and sign before we can start making reservations. Once we have that taken care of I will let you guys know ASAP!

As far as I know you sold your R/T after the ATL Nats. Nobody has seen it since then.

If you want to park with us on the show field, you need to bring the R/T. The Ram will have to park elsewhere in the Ram section.

Yeah, mine went out at the track at the St. Louis meet. Got a tow back to the hotel on Ed's trailer and then had fun swapping it in the parking lot. Hopefully there are no issues like that this year. Altho, I have to get the damn thing on the road in order to have issues. LOL

Umm...it's Thursday now. You've had almost 5 whole hours this day to discuss via AIM the details. What's the verdict? I have my credit card out ready to make reservations!

(By the way Russ, if you've been such a stickler for the past 2 weeks about hotel information and you don't plan on making a reservation within 24 hours of hearing the final decision I'm going to probably laugh quietly to myself). :jester:

All I will say is that Carlisle hotels are not cheap. If you would like cheap, please proceed to drive 30min+ from the fairgrounds and stay in some dump with 6' ceilings and crayon drawings on the wall (Avoid the Dillsburg Super 8), or has nothing near by, or has some sort of disease growing in the shower. FWIW last year we stayed at somewhere "cheap" for $85/night.

The host hotel this year has a pool, two restaurants/bars with more stuff near by, has the ability to host/cater our banquet if needed, is closer to Carlisle, and is generally much nicer. It will cost more, but we are getting what we are paying for. They are giving us a group rate that is cheaper than any rate on their website.

Don't forget you will be paying for the meet itself if you want to join us for raffle prizes, awards, and dinner Saturday night. There will be an additional charge for non-DRTC members. Those numbers I have not figured out yet as it depends on the venue we end up at which is determined by how many people show up. The place I have initially selected holds up to 30. The host hotel can support up to 50.

bad360rt
02-18-2010, 05:52 PM
Also keep in mind that you can split a room to keep costs down, that's what a lot of folks do. I'd rather pay a lil more and stay at a nicer hotel that has a restaurant/bar and stuff nearby.

No high standards here but I only live 2 hours from carlisle so staying in a motel an hour away is pointless and paying to stay in a room that can be seen from space when you hit it with a black light is just wrong...
