well, she's paid for now, and the warrenty is out. time to hit the drag strip.

i know about where i want to be at, just wondering what i need to do to get there, any help will be appreciated. i've never ran this truck at the track, the only track around is an 8th mile, in roxboro. first off, what do these trucks generally run stock? (well, it has a aem cold air now).

i would like to get to about 9 flat, i'd settle for like a 9.1 i guess. 8.9 would be excellent.

mods for sure that are coming - M1, 52mm F&B, 180 T-Stat, Spintech midlengths and true dual 2.5", SCT. where do you guys think i will be with these mods? would roller rockers benefit with these mods? i dont really want to get into nitrous, so if these wont get me to the 9 flat range, what other bolt ons are out there that will help?

thanks

thanksThe Harland Sharp 1.7's give a good gain and is the usual route people have gone somewhere along the way. If you convert to an adjustable valvtrain and accompanying taller valve covers, IE mopar covers, then I do a cam swap and a a slightly higher stall converter.

I think you'd be pretty close to the range you want.

1/8th mile times are about 2/3 of your 1/4 time.
Or take you 1/8th time and add 1/2 back to it.

In your case 9sec 1/8 would be about a 13.5sec 1/4.

That is ball-park numbers not hard set in stone numbers.

You should be able to get there pretty easily.

Might want to consider traction in there as well!!

Cal-Tracs, Slicks, and Shocks.

I know there are those that have heard this saying, "A fast driver can make a slow truck fast, and a slow driver cab make a fast truck slow." That siad, experience will make you faster. It's paid for, so rung it as it is for the experience, and to be consistant, adding a little at a time as you need it.

If the trans is stock, then for sure you should install a shift kit to make it shift firmer.

If you like drag racing, then buy something you can afford to throw away, and leave your truck as it is. If you race you're transportation, you might end up without transportation at some point.

In my regular cab with those mods plus the HS 1.7's I went 9.1 at best with a high 1.9X 60'. A stall converter and/or gears will get you there for sure if you can hook up, you might need some drag radials at that point though.

the truck isnt my daily driver. it sits 98% of the time in the garage, never sees rain, all that stuff. its my baby, so im not trying to run it allll the time, just looking for some mods to pep her up a little bit.

your truck stock should run around a 10 second or high 9 second 1/8 mile. you will be close to your goal with those mods. add the 1.7 roller rockers to your list for sure.

this is kinda off topic, but not really.

im getting the spintech exhaust as far as the headers and x-pipe, but what mufflers are you guys running? i've heard good things about the spintech muffler, but i havent heard one in person.

basically im torn between running magnaflows, spintechs, and Borla's. my buddy has a charger r/t with borla exhaust and it sounds ridiculous good. any of ya'll runnin borla mufflers? i just want a loud (not stupid loud, but reasonable) deep toned setup.

Save your money, and get the track experience first. Learn the lights, and how to be consistant.

I'm running SpinTech System, and the muffler technology they use looks darn close to what my late brother had designed, before he passed away in 2000.

Remember, loud doesn't me better.

im not looking for a overbearingly loud, just a good toned sound. and who was your brother and what did he do?
