Want to get one for the truck for those just in case moments. What would be the size you would recommend?

A small Halon extinguiser is lightwieght and will put out anything.

Apparently, Halon is now illegal for sale, EXCEPT for use in the aviation industry. This site has alot of choices http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/pspages/h3rhalon.php.

You have the whole halon system don't you?

Is a 2.5lb good enough for a hand held?

Sorry, I have 5 lb, not 10 lb...2.5 is plenty for a hand held

Stay away from Halon (I am a FF)... Halon WILL kill you, thus why it is outlawed in everything except the IT (limited use) and Aviation (limited use). Halon works by displacing oxygen, thus when you discharge it you will not be able to breathe (if you are in a closed environment, like a truck cab)... Use a ABC type extinguisher instead, much safer and has the same effect.

Like sitting inside a Abrams Tank and it sucks all the oxygen out of your lungs. haha. I have heard of people accidentally setting them off and they said it sucks.

I think I am going to buy thing. Or get someone to buy it for me, haha

I dont' know about suck the oxygen out of your lungs.... I do know it's nasty stuff. Stick with the ABC and you will be fine. If you can find a AFFF foam one, that's the best for fuel.

My fire system hits the engine bay only...But that's one reason I'm gutting the truck of all flamables other than Kirkty seat covers.

The week before I went to the track for the first time a few years ago a local guy hit the wall, car erupted in flames...He died 2 weeks later. No thanks.

I also carry a small 2.5 lb extinguisher, and have a 15 lb bottle on my trailer, one in my garage...Ya never know.

A fire extinguisher is a great idea.

I just have this little extinguisher, but it has saved my ass once already and I have almost had to use it two other times.

For those that haven't been around since the beginning of this thing, my R/T actually caught on fire after the burnout contest at the 2nd DRTC Nats, in Topeka. The evap/purge hoses were setting on my headers. When I did a 4,000 rpm 2nd gear burnout for 1 solid minute, the headers got hot enough to melt the plastic lines and actually cause them to burst into flames. I had the ONLY fire extinguisher within 10 minutes of the fire. Even Heartland Park didn't have one handy. My truck would have burned down the track too, as it was parked underneath the control tower when it caught fire.

The next time, my fuel solenoid on my nitrous system stuck open a little bit. When I mashed it at the starting line, it went poot then silent, then smoke started pouring out of the cowl, all in the bat of an eye. It was just the K&N on fire though, so I didn't have to use the extinguisher.
The same thing happened again at the Atlanta Nats.

You don't have to run nitrous, but the fact that you actually have it all mounted in your truck and don't use it, is why you catch so much shit about it.

The solenoid was nearly 10 yrs old and it just wouldn't close all the way anymore. When I armed the system, the fuel started dribbling down into the K&N tube (a problem you wouldn't have with a plate and a round filter), then when I hit the throttle at the light, for some reason it did a tiny little backfire, then caught the filter on fire from the inside-out.
Any time you have trouble with a solenoid, you can send them back to NX and they will refurb them for the cost of shipping (no charge).
I ended up buying someone out of a 2nd kit, so now I have 2 of everything, just in case.
