Here is the situation:

I am looking at air to air being that I mostly drive it around and autoX it and such. For the strip, I do have a NX kit I could install and run a 50 shot or something to cool it further.

Or

Just run a air to water system and change out the water at the strip. Any negatives to running water in it all the time (pump wear ect) for the street? Would this still be better than air to air with warm water on the autoX or street?

That and anyone run an air to air with the AC still in? Any tips on how to install the cooler up front, it is real tight for that up there short of notching the front bumper. I would really like to keep the AC if possible.

Thanks,

Thanks,

You'll probly be notching the bumper to keep the A/C and add a A/A I/C,, it's a tight fit.

I don't even run my A/W I/C on the street. No need to run it unless you know your gonna go into boost on the street. You can always turn it on beforehand though.
You could run A/W on the street all the time if you want to,, my set up comes with a small rad./fan combo that cools the water before going back to the tank. For the strip or auto-x, just add ice before each run.
The pump will eventually wear out if you're constantly running it everywhere you go. But for track only, it should last quite a while.

I did the same thing as Ed, rarely even turned on the pump/fans for the intercooler when I was on the street, unless of course I knew I was gonna get into a lil action ;) With a big enough tank and adding more ice between rounds an a/w would work for autox.

I have an air to air with AC still. Basically, I had to switch to a different radiator and different fan. My bumper is not notched. The guy that fabricated everything made brackets and end tanks himself as well as the configuration for the piping.

I'll have to upload some pictures of how everything fits.

you can run an A/W on the street all day long if you want.

I am a firm believer that the A/W is the better way to go.

All the Big Boost pro Drag Racers use it, and FORD uses it on the Lightnings.

The lightning system runs all the time. Granted they mount the Aux cooler with the radiator and and have a thermostat controlled pump making it a 100% street system, No flipping switches off and on.

And if they can cool down 17-20psi boost enough to still run Pump Gas when it comes out of a Screw Type blower, then they have a system that does work well.
