So, I just bought this 2000 R/T and for my birthday, my GF is having remote start put in.
The installed called me to tell me that it looks like the truck did have remote start in it at one point and it was removed. He also said that there are some cut wires under the dash that look like they were factory wires. But he doesn't know what they're for.
I went to look at it last night and there are two wires coming from a white harness near the firewall that are cut and taped. One is pink with a black stripe and the other is orange with a black stripe. Does anyone have a clue what these wires are for and why they may have been cut?

get a fuse block/pcm pinout and a multimeter, should be able to tell what they're for pretty quick.

Ok, so I'm really bad at reading electrical schematics.
But from what I can see, it looks like it may have something to do with the door locks.
Page 8W-80-20 of the FSM shows what looks like the right size connector with the OG/BK and PK/BK wires in the right spots.
I thought I read something about problems with the locks when using remote start.Does this make any sense? The connector I'm looking at in the manual says its a "Central Timer Module" Maybe locks the doors after a certain amount of time ater the truck is started?

the central timer module, iirc from the FSM... keeps things like the clock & your radio presets powered. trucks ship from the factory with it disabled, then before they sell it is activated... it just lessens the minimal drain on the battery when a car is on a dealers lot for months.

as far as the wiring for power locks.. i couldn't tell you. i'm no good at schematics either, but what i would do is take the wires you have and check for continuity betwen the end you have, and the PDC in the engine compartment. when you hear the continuity tone, look on the fuse cover and it will tell you what circuit that wire belongs to.

Or... unplug the PCM and probe the connector plugs, then just reference the FSM and it will tell you what system belongs to the pin your'e getting the continuity tone on. best to get a bud to help you... or strip a little away and wrap the wire around the probe to keep it while you poke around on the other side.

on my 99, i remember splicing a couple orange/black wires, but i do remember they were o2 wires... probably not your issue, as dodge does double up on a few color combinations. white/blue, and brown come to mind... drove me crazy figuring that one out, lol- i once had my air conditioner wired to my overdrive, hah!

Speaking of FSMs does anyone have one or a link for the 99 one? I only have the 00.

i don't think there is an electric copy for a 99... i used the 00 for years before i found a set on ebay with all the suppliments for like $25. keep your eye out- with all the dealer closings you can find FSM's all day long.

I bought all my Durango manuals off of Ebay as well. Provided you can find them then it's usually a better deal than new.

However, I'd pay $90 for a factory manual before I pay $10 for a Haynes or Chilton.

Guess I'm dumb like that! (lol)

Haynes teached me everything I know about my R/T- It even gave me step by step instructions on how to convert my 360 into a 408. Whenever I have a problem all I have to do is go grab the Haynes and it'll be all good in no time.:nana:
