I just got my engine back together after putting on some heads. I also put on some crane 1.6 adjustable roller rockers. The engine starts up fine, but there is this loud whining noise (supercharger isnt on right now), it sort of sounds like a high flow fuel pump. Is this the roller rockers making this noise? I havent adjusted them yet, because I dont want to run the truck if its not the natural sound that the roller rockers make.
The truck is also idleing at a higher rpm, is there an idle adjustment screw on the mopar 4bbl throttle body?

how did you initialy setup the rockers to start it? they need to be set right and sumwhat adjusted before your even start it up.

I was going to adjust them the way that I read somebody do on dak-dur.com. I got them alittle bit tighter then hand tight, then stated it. The person that im copying off of left the valve covers off, then while the truck was running, they would loosen the rockers until they started to tap. Then they would tighten the rocker back up until it didnt tap anymore, then turn the nut 3/4 of a turn more.
But I dont want to leave the truck running if the roller rockers arent the problem.

High pitch whistle and high idle sounds like a vac leak somewhere. Make sure the tb is sealed up good, when I first put my 58 on the gasket didn't seal and I had a whistle and it idled at about 1200rpm.

I went out and started it again and it idles at around 1200-1300. I gave the throttle alittle blip and it would stop making the noise, but it would start doing it again when the idle would come back down.

It was a vaccum leak around the throttle body. Runs decent now, I atleast go it to idle so that I can adjust the roller rockers.

Glad it was an easy fix. My diagnostic fee is $85, I take money orders and paypal :jester:
