I have my wiring harness out, hacking away at it, and I think now is the time to do away with the PCM. I am building a gauge pod and I am currently running a standalone and the TkO setup, so can anyone give me some details on not running the pcm? Are there any significant problems I may be overlooking? How about the crank position sensor? Does it need to be retained when using the dual sync DFI? Any insight would be great.

no need for crank pos with the "dual" sync dist. it covers cam and crank.

best bet would be to get ahold of damon. he rewired mine.

Can you bump someone on this site?

Nope, can't bump.

It's pretty much the same as a carbed setup. You have to take care of the battery voltage regulation since that happens in the PCM and I think you have to deal with the ASD circuit somehow so you can start it. Copperdodge over on devilbrad.com converted his GenII to PCM-less via a carb. He should be able to tell you what else they had to do.

Well, we had to hard-wire the ground from the starter relay to a metal ground on the frame below the relay box. That makes the starter work with the key on a Gen 2. Not sure what all you will be up against with a Gen 3. I used an MSD digital distributor and the 6AL box and a 70-amp 1-wire old-style alternator which was internally regulated (no need for a separate voltage regulator). As for your EFI, I have no idea what you'll have to do for sensors.

Once you remove the PCM, the dashboard still has enough intelligence to light up the parking brake dummy light, the airbag dummy light, the low fuel light, and a few others. i just removed bulbs until the lights went off. On the other hand, none of my gauges work except for the voltmeter. I installed an auxillary oil pressure & water temp gauge & still need to wire up a fuel gauge. Right now, my fuel gauge is a paint stick stuck down into my fuel cell. LOL....

Thanks guys, I got alot figured out except for the ASD, and I could be missing other things I don't know about.

DAMON WHERE ARE YOU???????
