Ya, I'm pretty sure the keys don't distinguish between security and non.
Do you have a light that blinks in the gauge cluster when you lock the doors with the key FOB??

when did security start becoming an issue..? i remember back in 2000 i bought a mopar pcm for my 99 and there wasn't any talk of security vs. non-security. i didn't notice the topic until only a few years ago.

peteI thought I read something about after so many starts the pcm is locked into being a security pcm IF the truck has the security system. If no security, you can sell your pcm to someone with security and the pcm will adapt and become a security pcm after so many starts. They cannot go back to being non security.
Could be BS. Don't know. Got SCT. I'm good.
