while at the Detroit AutoRama i spoke with the VP of Milan Dragway (Mrs. Baxter) it seems as though she missed a bit of key info in the email replys to Ken and I.
this much we all ready know.
"Weekday/Weeknight rentals include 3 hours of track time."
the part she missed.
"If additional hours are required it will be charged a rate of $500 per hour up to 40 cars and $10 per hour per car over 40 cars."
additional info i gathered....
"$2500 minimum which will include up to 40 cars and 60 spectators." this DOES include insurance and medical staff.
also concessions can be made available upon request at no additional cost. just pay for what you need.
she knew who i was and we unofficially have the date set for the track. she said she gets more that 15 emails per day in reguards to track rental and such. but we are the only ones inquiring about a date that late in the year. so she will be contacting me in the next week or so to set it up and pay the deposit (which i all ready have a check on hand for)

Sent you a PM Rob. :)
So this is 3 hours of actual track time. So we could come to the track, have an hour or so for everyone to get ready and then get 3 hours of racing for $2500? Of course I'd like as much racing time as we can get, but we'll have to crunch all the numbers. Just want to make sure I understand how the deal will work. Actually, the #'s aren't too bad, depending on attendance of course.
40 trucks, 3 hours, $2500, $62.50 per truck
40 trucks, 5 hours, $3000, $87.50 per truck
60 trucks, 3 hours, $2700, $45.00 per truck
60 trucks, 5 hours, $3900, $65.00 per truck
80 trucks, 3 hours, $2900, $36.25 per truck
80 trucks, 5 hours, $4300, $53.75 per truck
I think I did the math right LOL

They changed the cost this year. Last year they just charged a flat rate for 5 hours. Clubs used to make a couple bucks by renting the Track. They used to charge ~$50 per car or truck and after they reached a 50 count, it was money for the club. Now they want to make all of the money for themselves. Greedy Bastards!!!! There is no way Milan is worth that kind of money.
If I had a Vote----I would say “Go to Laper” It is a shitty little track about 40 min from the hotel. But it would be half the price.

i don't know about Lapeer. that place is a shit hole and unsafe IMO.

The price that Milan quoted is outrageous. That $1,000 per extra hour plus cost per extra Truck is crazy. WE COULD EASY BE PAYING OVER $8,000 TO RENT MILAN. When I compare it to renting Atlanta Motor Speedway (oval and road course) for $10,000. Thats just not right!!

no, it's $500 per extra hour and $10 per hour per extra truck over 40 trucks.

one more small thing to watch for,,don't be suprised if track time starts when they open the gate and not when the first truck stages..

I'd say we'd be good going with line 8 of your graph. Just find a cheap auto-x location and $125 to attend is easily attainable. Don't forget to ask about track insurance, we will need it for the auto-x day regardless, and the ins. fee we pay will cover multiple days, so I guess disregard this whole statement! LOL Just don't forget that $2500 in your final tally.

3 hours of track time, thats it? By the time we get everyone ready and the 1st truck stages, everyone will get one run. :jerkit:

insurance is included in the $2500
$2500 is the insurance for the auto-x?

As said in the meeting, a policy for insurance whether it's one day or 365 days, is $2500. That's why the road course got canceled last year. I don't know any way around it, maybe someone else can chime in.

I think we need to do some more insurance shopping and see if we can get a better deal than that for the autox.

We're going for 5 hours of track time. But like Rob mentioned, the clock starts ticking 30 mins after the gates open. So folks are gonna have to be there when the gates open, and prep their trucks quick, in order to maximize track time
