Motor Plate

I was looking at a Motor Plate. Are the water pump bolt patterns (block casting) the same on a LA and Magnum engine?

NO
The water pumps do not interchange and a LA Plate won't work. If you switch to a LA Timing change cover a LA Plate will work but the cover is deeper due to the fuel pump lobe on the cam. And you will need a LA water pump. Then you should look at the pump rotation. IIRC a magnum serpentine belt turns the water pump reverse of a LA v-belt. CSR makes an electric pump that will work.
