Just lookin to see what's on folks minds for future meet locations.
Lemme know whatcha think.
1. I prefer a location centrally located in the U.S. each year
2. I prefer a rotation of East, West and Central each year
3. I prefer a dual meet theme: 1 in east/central and 1 in west/central
4. I prefer the divisional rotation as it has been in the past
5. Don't matter: I'm not goin

Anything outside of the Right coast I'm not gonna be able to make it. Not with my truck at least.
I think we should let MAD R/T host next year and see how it goes from there.
At some point the club just isn't going to be able to sustain dakota only events period. We will have to start piggy backing on top of other events. Anyone that came to Carlisle this year, or went to Woodward will let you know those events were a blast.

Agreed
I think it should be held in the same location every year, and maybe coordinated with another event to help cut costs. Maybe combine with another car clubs national meet. Does the NLOC have an annual meet? Maybe the Sy/Ty crowd?

I agree with Sean. I was at Carlisle this year and it was a blast. I don't see how a national meet that is centrally located will benefit anyone, except those that live in the central USA. By doing so would essentially eliminate most east and west coast guys completely. Instead of doing the old regional rotations, I think an east-central-west format would work best. In the "off" years, members could still meet up somewhere, it just wouldn't be backed by the DRTC.
There does seem to be a lot of interest in next year's meet already...
Problem with the rotational thing is it will "eliminate" a lot more people from attending each year than a centrally located meet that is held at the same time each year. They key is to not only know the location, but also the dates for the next years meet at the current years meet. And the way it's been working, since it's rotational and in a new place each year, each year, who ever has to host it has to go through all the motions of finding a track, checking dates for rental, checking prices, trying to find a location for the SNS, trying to find a host hotel,.........., and by the time they get everything coordinated and are able to post location/dates/prices for people to make plans, it's only a few months away making it hard for people to get time off work, or even make sure they have enough money to attend. All stuff that could easily be taken care of by having it in the same place every year at the same time. that way it's easy for people to plan ahead to attend the meets. Maybe they can't make it every year, but should be able to make it every other year by saving up money and knowing when/where to plan for. Even people on the east and west coast could do that. I think a lot more people could make it to more meets if it's the same place and same time every year.
Or even if it moves around, can we at least try to set up some sort of a schedule where if there have been no solid proposals X months in advance then the meet will be cancelled for that year. I'd rather not have a meet, then get it scheduled late affecting a lot of people from being able to make it, not only because of cost, but getting time off work/school. Because the less people that attend, the higher the cost for those who do attend.

My vote is for 2 meets/year.....one in the central part of the west (arizona, nevada, utah or something like that) and one in the central part of the eastern area (topeka, st. louis or something like that).
It would give members from each coast a 'chance' to go to a meet every year - I dont think attendance would be any different than just one meet being held every year in the west or east. I think it would boost interest in the DRTC if that is what you guys desire because folks would have something to look forward to each year knowing they could possibly attend and plan ahead.
The even bigger benefit - some people might be able to go to 2 meets per year if they so desired or lived reasonably close to both locations.

My only objections to that are; the more people you can get in one spot, the more fun it is to hang out after the events for the day. If you can get everyone to come to the center at the same time, then you have the opportunity to create so much more fun for everyone. I enjoy friends on both shores, so I would hate to have to choose between them.
Not to mention, it's twice the planning headache.
Just putting in my opinion though.

have to find a place with a lot of hotels....we probably still are not allowed back in the big one in Topeka!!!

Or just not let people get that stupid anymore. I think the last few meets, they've been a lot more strict on some of the "after hours" events. There's no reason to trash a hotel or parking lot. That just makes us as a community look bad and we don't need that image.

I think Atlanta again would be a blast. This time they also have a 1/8 mile drag inside the track area. Oval, road course and drag stip all in one facility:drive: Gotta love the way the track pulls the trucks to the wall in turn 4:woot:

Well I know I'm the new guy, but I have to vote #1. In my opinion if you schedule things well enough in advance you should get a decent turn out. I know times are tough and just affording gas for these trucks is insane. But.... again, if you plan it well in advance I think those that really want to come will find a way to get there :goodluck:

I would probably buy another truck.......just to go to Atlanta again.....that was the shiznit:rockwoot:
I think that almost everyone that was there in 06 would go back plus at least 30% more.
I mentioned this back then, and Brian has brought it up too, but what about the Lightning owners, anyone have any contact with them.
Thats whats on my mind......

I wish there was one that was a little closer too. They are always well over 1k miles away except those in Atlanta, which I had to miss back in April. I would like to go to one.

What if we piggy back with another show- Like Monster Mopar Weekend in St. Louis. Its Sept 10th-12th. Huge Mopar show. We could schedule our track day for say the 9th, before the show so we can have exclusive access to the drag and oval tracks. Then we can all be in the Show n, shine for the showdates, and others can compete in the drag races. They already have a modified dakota/durango show class- I'm sure if we plan far enough ahead and have enough people registered they can expand that class for us that are extreme and super modified like we've done in the past. Just a thought.
