I'm trying to figure out what kind of headers to use for my r/t but I don't want to go with something to expensive. Any suggestions?

PPH/Mopar or Spintech, they're both reasonably priced and are easy to install. Both provide good gains and fit well. There are someother choices out there, but all the other ones don't perform worth a crap(any shorty header on the market), or are a bitch to install. When it comes to headers for our trucks, you really do get what you pay for.

Pretty soon you won't have too many mid length choices. PPH is doing the last eight sets of headers for us now and after that, that's it.

well it's still going to have to pass emmisions though. . .

Keep you cat and 02 sensors in place and passing emissions shouldn't be an issue.

Is your truck a 99, assuming by your S/N? I had mid lengths on my 99. The o2 bungs are welded into the headers. No worries!

yes it is a 99. What mid lengths did you have on it?

I had the Spintech setup, or GiSM, but we don't call it that anymore! LOL The headers and exhaust came with all the bungs for all 4 sensors. Although I only used 3, no cat, and just welded the last bung shut, and ziptied the 4th sensor to the frame. I don't have emissions testing or inspections where I'm at, but my friend had the exact same setup/mods that I did and it passed emissions just fine.

I have to have a cat, no cat is an automatic fail.

Yeah, then you put the sensor in after the cat as well.

But is it a visual test for cats, or do they do an exhaust sniffer. I HAVE TO have them in NJ too, to pass the visual. But I don't have to do the sniffer, so mine are there, but they are gutted. Spintech can sell you a full setup with hi-flow cats that will pass emissions, that's what I started with.

I think it's just a visual. It's hard to say it all depends on the person that checks your vehicle.
