Anyone know of a 99 FR CC R/T lowered, rims, leather int, subs, DVD with 2 screens ad on E-Bay? The same truck showed up on a Craigslist ad in MI (Detroit-Metro) Tuesday morning ( 2/26/08 ) and gone that evening...
The Craigslist ad was for $4000, seemed way to low for what it was and they had an e-mail addy for contact info : something didn't seem right.
I just spotted the E-Bay ad last nite, its gone this morning.

It's a scam. The guy has spammed that truck all the way from L.A. to Washington DC. They keep trying to lure people to an AOL e-mail address. The ad gets purged right and left, they've tried re-posting it 5 or 6 times.

I think it's a variant on the Nigerian scam...

a friend of mine has been cruising craigslist and kjiji as his winter beater 91 Civic got written off... one night he sends me an ad for a 2002 Trans Am WS6 - $2200, asked if I thought it was a typo or what...

we both emailed the ad (I actually was going to scoop it if he didn't jump on it and it was legit lol)... we both got an email back saying basically
"$2200 includes shipping price, car is ready to be shipped, send me your info, I will process through ebay so our money is all protected, try the car for 5 days, you don't like it send it back to me"

this happened with about 5 ads my friend replied to, variety of cars, including a 2004 Volvo S40, a late 90s Chev Blazer, couple others...

the emails were always close to the same... car is in (Florida, Seattle, Washington DC), person divorcing, no need for the car, recently moved to (in our case, Toronto)... and no, the car could not be inspected pre-delivery as it was already packed for shipping... and always, send me your info so i can give it to ebay (even though the ads were not ebay listed) and start the process. The price also always included the car, shipping the car, and shipping it back in case it didn't work out... very generous, since I figure shipping a Trans Am from Florida to Toronto likely costs at least half the $2200 they were asking...

this sounds suspiciously familiar to me... although it can be worth an email from an address you don't use regularly...
