My Wifes truck got totaled Monday . Now we have a Dodge Caliber for a rental car. These things have to be one of the worst cars I have ever driven. You have to run them at full throtle to even move in traffic. The thing just sets at redline forever just to get to 55.

Is she OK? Sorry to hear about the truck. What's next for her? Her own R/T is my suggestion!

agreed. i've ridden in my friend's caliber the past two days for the grand total of close to 100 miles and i'm thoroughly unimpressed. i would definitely be jap car shopping before i bought a caliber. it's sad.

at least two guys who came back from deployment and traded in their mopars --a jeep and stratus sedan-- are happy with calibers, but more as an economical daily beater. i can understand us performance enthusiasts not being impressed by the 1.8-engined variants

Yeah she is ok. It was parked at her work out on the street. Some dumb chick just nailed it at 35+ mph not paying attention. Bent the frame up bad on the blazer. Only the passanger side front door will open. She wants a Cadillac CTS. She has always been more of a GM fan.

Shitty!
Let me know on that CTS. One of my accounts is a Caddy store, might be able to help you out!

Well this will be a used one, not new. We are looking at 06's. I like the price better on the 05's but Vicki wants the autostick feature which started in 06.

Calibers SUCK. I had one for a few years. I got it right when it came out. no power and no breaking makes for a shitty car. I now have a caravan. I know Im a looooooser for saying this but its freaking rocks. Every time i see a caliber now I get a warm and cozy feeling ...... that its not mine.:goodluck:

Yes I hated that car the same way. When I see someone driving one I feel a little sorry for them. :jester:
I owned a 2.0L Caliber for just under a year. I actually enjoyed the car and actually miss it. Once you learned how the CVT works it actually did pretty good for acceleration for me. Flooring it and holding it at redline wasn't the best way to accelerate. And the CVT is designed to keep it at redline until you let off the throttle. It's supposed to keep it in the proper powerband for the conditions. Dodge actually bought my Caliber back due to electrical problems the dealer couldn't fix. Only reason we didn't get another one was because it was too small of a car for us with two kids and one rear facing. Was really cramped in the back and I had to slide my seat forward. But I thought it was a fun car to drive and got decent gas mileage. Here's what mine looked like

I bought my wife a Caliber and she loves it. I've got the same model HSKR had and he's right on the $$. It's damn good car for her. For me I'd want the SRT4 version though. Either way her Caliber will have the only set of billet engine dress-up that exists (as far as I know).
If you have the wheel covers like mine, I took them off, masked them off and painted them with the Krylon plastic paint from Walmart. I think they turned out good. I swapped them with another guy in San Diego before I turned the car in.

Good idea. I'll have to take a look at theat when the weather breaks. My wife is not into cars at all. So, I'm gonna do a few things to hers to help me in the long run.:woot:
My wife doesn't really care what I do with my truck, but she doesn't want me modifying "her" cars, but I was allowed to do simple cosmetic things like paint the wheels. Tint is a must, and we were looking at different headlights/taillights.
