i wouldn't but people do that all the time. i guess as long as you have a way to monitor the bottle press.

I've heard it can weaken the bottle if you're not careful, and a lot of tracks will boot you if they see you using a torch.
This is what I'll be using, $100:

It's not a good way to heat a bottle, but dumbass rednecks do it all the time.
I like a plain old electric bottle heater. It's well worth the investment, along with a gauge.

Haha alright well Im acctually a redneck at heart! lol. Im just haveing trouble with bottle pressure. I cant even get it up to 900psi. I think the highest ive gotten it was around 700. And the bottle is mounted in the bed. What would i do about the heater?

Use the link Dave provided, order/buy/install. Just use a heavy + wire and heavy fuse, plus make sure it's grounded good. 700 psi ain't shit. You'll pee yourself when you hit it with 1,100 psi.

I have been having lots of electrical gremlins because of my UDP's, can't keep the system charged very well at idle. As a result I came up with my redneck heater method - put the bottle in a sink or tub, cover the moving parts with a bag or rag, and run hot water over it for a few minutes. When it's gotten up to the desired temperature, dry it off, install it in the truck, and wrap it with a couple of towels or a warm blanket plus bungie cords to retain the heat.

Please don't use a torch, those who do are endangering themselves and lots of innocent people/racers around them. Everyone will think your a moron/menace, especially me. Pony up for a heater or do what Sin said.

I'd still get the electric heater. The wiring is the same as the nitrous solenoids, except you'll just want to run a heavier + wire and fuse holder to the relay. Mine's powered out of the + in the PDC box.
Also, make sure the switch is wired to a "key on" hot in the fuse panel. That way it's less likely to be left on by accident.
Besides, with the electric heater, you can keep it hot.

You could start with Steves idea and heat the bottle with water. When you get to the track, you might be able to use the heater in the truck, or perhaps the exhaust. If it's sunny out, you can wrap the bottle in a black plastic bag and set it in the sun. Anything short of an open flame, should be OK.
