I bought a Snap-on MTG2500. It came with the "domestic -99" and "asian- 98" cartridges. When I plug in the domestic primary cartridge with the k13 key only the years (89-93) is displayed. When I plug in the asian cartridge, the scanner acts as if there is no cartridge installed. Anyone have any advice/insight? There is surprisingly little help on the web.

Do you have the key off on the truck when you plug it in? I usually turn my scanner on first, then it asks for engine/ vin. I turn the key to where my door ajar bell starts ringing. Then the scanner pulls the vin up, and you should be ready to go.

my mt2500? or my truck? My truck is a 2000, so maybe there is a key difference among the years.

sounds like that might be the case, you probably can still use the earlier year key

What is the first screen displayed (after the copyright message)? Mine says "Chrysler Primary (1983-93)". Reading through the book, its seems like there is supposed to be a choice of selecting a new or existing vehicle to scan and maybe a screen to select OBD2 or OBD? Is that correct? Nowhere do I have a choice of selecting Ford, Chrysler, Chevy, etc.

Just because it say one thing on the outside of the cartridge,it doesn't mean thats what it is.Some one may have changed the guts(the little pc board inside). When you buy the upgrades from snap-on,what you get is a little pc board, and a new decal to put in the cartridge case.Check to see if your asian cartridge even has anything in it.
Hope you didn't get scammed.Good luck.
