Hey Fellas...

I just bought my first house! w00t :rockwoot:

First thing is first, even though the house is brand new, the garage needs some TLC.. It's a 550 sq ft 3-car garage and the first thing I'd like to do is throw down a good epoxy coating that will last a long time and look good!

I don't know shit about any of this and much Googling will ensue this weekend, but if any of you guys has had this done can you share your experiences and any advice you may have? Did you do it yourself? Am I better off having a pro do it? Is there any particular brand I should go with or avoid?

Let's hear it!

I did mine myself got the paint a Sherman Williams store.BIG $$ It's a two parts paint you mix and coat gota have a clean stain free floor and might want to clean with acid I had brand new floor to work with it was two coats on small three car. Check your sq ft to get right amt.Watch I peeled off a layer of paint with my M&H drag radials (they a Fn sticky!) I now park rear tires on large shop rug.Good luck take your time read up on it and enjoy the clean looks people comment mine all the time its 3 yrs old I think it is beat up from working on it but what ever:D

i have done the rustoleum epoxy shield paint kit. I would highly recommend it IF and only if you get the high gloss epoxy top coat. We did ours with the top coat and it looks fantastic. I think we only spent about $200 on the two kits. One kit being a 2 car garage base kit and the other $100 was the top coat kit. The reason why I said you need to do the top coat, is because i have seen someone do one that didnt ahve the top coat and it all wore away over time and looked like crap. That top coat is actually what seals it and makes it look great and stay great. Its easy to do if you have 2-3 people doing it so you can work quick enough. You have to paint and coat the whole thing before the stuff hardens (its an epoxy so its a chemical reaction).

Im actually amazed that i even found a couple of these pictures. The first two were just me playing with some settings on the camera so I am not sure why they are still saved.

if you look close you will see that there is a slight texture and bumps to the clear top coat (not the freckle colored chips but the area you can see the flash reflecting off of). That is an anti slip sand additive which has kept me from busting my ass a few times.

I haven't done mine yet, but I'll be going with the Sherwin Williams industrial floor coating. Should run me about $300 with the deal the guy at my local store is giving me (helps that I bought a shitload of paint from him lol). My garage is about 550sqft also.
