I haven't seen anyone do an exhaust like this before on a Dakota, so ever since my cat went out last Nov, I've been wanting to get a new cat put in and finally change my exhaust from side exit to exit out the back. I just recently got the rollpan painted and installed it. Well, just yesterday I got a new hi-flow cat installed and completely new exhaust all the way out the back and rolled lip tips through the rollpan. It's a much quieter ride inside the cab of the truck, but out back it sounds mean still.:mullet:

Here are the pics of the finished product..... (and yes, I need a nice polished license plate frame now)

Love the look, don't care for that much gap with the gate. Maybe it looks smaller in person.

Looks good like always.. Only thing that would look sick, but the plate would be in the way is maybe some bigger tips with a oval slant cut. Going with the roll pan's lines on both sides.

Yeah, mine looks much more C5 vette looking with the rollpan shape and tips on either side of the plate. Yours is much more viper looking with the tips under the plate.

Yep, wondered where you got the inspiration for that style earlier today when I first saw the pics. Then I went out for dinner with the family and saw a Vette with the same exhaust.

Darren, looks great! Nice and clean. What roll-pan is that?

It's actually a new model from Sir Michaels. It normally comes in 3 different types with lame designs punched out on either side of the license plate. Once I saw the roll pan, I imagined it with the exhaust tips exiting in those locations. So I dug some more and found out I could order the roll pan blank without any designs punched out in the pan. Then I cut my own holes in it, had it painted and the results are what you see posted.

Would be a next to impossible mod if I ran my spare underneath the truck.

Why do you say so??

because it's off balance. makes the whole ass look crooked. i have to have things symmetrical.. shit, i'm even toying with mouting my new blower where the a/c compressor used to be so it doesn't hang off to the side like every other one out here. i duno if i can accomplish that though, lol.

Guess I'm in the minority. I don't really like it LOL. I like dumped/hidden exhaust on a truck

I think it would work better for me if you had an LSx in the engine bay :D

I had all of my emblems laser cut out of 3/16" thick polished stainless steel. So it was pretty much a one off project. It's not a cheap endeavor, but I can offer you some info and places if you want to go about it as well. Send me a PM if interested.

looks awesome man!! clean & sweet, job well done!!
off topic, but quick question? does your innovations cover rub or scratch the paint on the bed rails at all? i just picked up the superior version( i think the the same mold) when i test fit it on it seemed really close the the rails??

thanks

My Superior cover has been on the truck since I picked it up...no such issues here. It's a daily driver also, if the rails were going to get scratched I would have figured it out by now with a few thousand miles of driving with it on. I would think so anyway.

As long as you get the mounting brackets adjjusted properly it won't rub. On my '99, I didn't get the set correctly and it rubbed on the rear corners of the bed rails, and on the top of the tailgate. On my '00 with the rail mount system and proper adjustment, no wear after 4 years.

The design is definitely nice....but I'm not a fan of the tips. They look like those small 2.5 inch pepboys tips. Sorry dude. I would've went with something like a corsa tip. Just my .02.

I was just looking at the pics again, and was wondering if anyone else noticed your tailgate and rollpan aren't straight? I'm suprised the tailgate isn't rubbing on the passenger side against the bed!

Was your truck ever hit Darren?

Dude, you're gonna give homeboy a complex! :jester: I see what you're talking about though. The passenger side of the tailgate is a little high, looking at the bottom body line compared to the bedside. These beds flex alot, so I doubt it's been hit.

LOL Sorry. I'm not even into showing off my vehicle like he is, but that would bug the shit out of me. I know the beds flex a lot, but they usually flex back into place. Neither of my trucks were ever that far off...

Thanks, I just noticed when I test fit the cover prior to painting the truck that it was snug so I just wanted to get a little feedback. I wil def adjust the mounting to keep it from rubbing! I also was thinking bout those clear paint protectors? My pops has a guy comes to his shop n custom cuts them for peoples cars??

LOL, I actually went outside to the truck at the exhaust shop and tested several tips. I tried a Corsa tip but it looked like total rice on the truck. I tried a regular slash cut tip but the angle was wrong and gave the tip no definition. The 3" rolled lip 20 degree slash cut tip is the one I ended up with. It certainly isn't something I'd ever buy at Pep Boys, but then again it's hard to convery how it looks in person with pics.

Nope, never hit. Jason's got it right. Bed flex is a bitch. The gap isn't as bad in person as it is in the pics.
