One of my friends who is also a customer of mine just stopped by with his new Shelby GT 500.
He knows I'm a car guy and love anything to do with performance so he wanted to show me the car. All I can say is WOW. 500hp and a 6 speed. It's insane. My neck is seriously killing me and we never even hit 3rd gear. He handed me the keys but I didnt want to drive it. I kept having images of the youtube video of the kid driving through the garage. Anyway, this friend of mine has money but hes the kind of guy thats worked his ass off for it and appreciates the things he has and buys. He paid cash for it. $61,000 (sticker is 42,500). He already has 300 miles on it and is putting it into storage today. His plans are to keep it stock and drive it a few times a month but I think he is hoping it will be more of an investment. Hes about 65 years old and still runs his business full time but buys stuff like this when he gets bored with life, lol...

Yeah, I agree completely! He's a good friend and customer so I am sure I will be getting to see it more! Hopefully a few more rides will be in store too...

Hell yeah dude, those things are cool as shit.
I raced one a few months back that lives near me. It was pretty funny because at first I got the jump on him and was about a truck length ahead, then he realized I was trying to race his ass, he threw it in first or second and took the fuck off. It was amazing! I love racing cars like that. :woot:

The performance is awesome, but the Ford dealerships can eat a dick on $20K markup! :nono:
I'll say the same thing about Dodge and the Challenger markups too! :jester:

Hmm, they are ok and all but it didn't impress me as much as the Viper I drove. Heavy car. That's crazy money for a Mustang but at least he ain't some punk kid with rich (dumb) parents.

but its got the same hp with fewer cylinders! I'm impressed with it and I think it's much more comfortable than the viper.

With BOOST. boost the viper and see what happens
how come everyone says that...
I'd call it close to a saw-off personally... yes, the Shelby is boosted... but the Viper always had 2 more cylinders for 2.9 litres more displacement... boosting the Viper doesn't turn it into an equal comparison again...
boost the Viper and throw an 8L V10 into the Shelby, then see what happens...
(the above is not to say i favor one car versus another, just saying it's not a discussion to state one has an advantage one way and then conveniently ignore that the other has different advantages)

And add a couple more cylinders to the shelby and see what happens... We could go back and forth forever on that...

Pull up to a light in the Shelby and only 10% of people would know its any different than a run of the mill Mustang. No one mistakes a Viper...

Yep, thats the nice thing about a Viper. It's the same thing with the Dakotas though. No one really knows what they are till you explain it to them.
