Ok so JL Audio has something for us, MTX has something for us all at a premium name brand price. What about a custom box made by a good company for a lot less. You can get them for Rams and just about any other vehicle on ebay for under 100 bucks.. Ive looked every where for a simple yet custom fitting box for CC Dakotas and I cant find em. Right now I have an Audio Bahn 10" sub with my amp mounted on top of the box just sitting on my rear seat drivers side. It works and sounds great, but I want something that looks like it was design for my truck. ???

I just installed a MTX Thunderform which fit like it was designed. I had no cutting or trimming issues. It went right in and looks factory. You can buy the box in three flavors. unloaded, speakers and loaded which has a amp and speakers in it. I bought on Amazon what was described as a loaded box for 300.00 When it got here it was speakers and box only. So I emailed the seller and they are sending me a MTX Thunder 6500D amp because they messed up the description. And didn't sell it as advertised. Point is they fit and look great. If you want I can take pictures of the actual box and how its mounted.

I've made fiberglass boxes that are molded to the floor. If I could make a mold of them I'd be able to sell them to people who had intentions to make a box like that.

Yea if you could take some pics of your install that would be great. I think Im going to have to give in and just buy a thunderform. I would like to use my own speakers so I would probably buy unloaded, the only thing is Im a gearhead and an audiophile. I dont know if I will be satisfied with having to use lowprofile subs. Let me know what you go with and the sound quality so I can get an idea. Thanks for the help!!

When I get my amp I can tell you more about the audio. But the thunderform just dropped right in. I had to tke out the upper plastic and the back rest. My old jack tray was already molested by a teenage wood butcher. So it came out in 3 pieces.

Back plastic piece has plastic push-in holders.
Back rest has 4 phillips head screws.
The tray has 4 10mm bolts that go thru it two in the cup holders and two in the back. No need to remove the seatbelts just unbutton the black plastic holders that are on the bottom of the back rest.

Since I already had the old one out it took me 10 minutes to install the new one. But since I had no amp I didnt get it fired up yet.

Ok I took the box back out today cause i needed to re-wire the amp constant hot anyhow. Here are some images of the process. I have to note that the factory screw holes do not line up right with the box. So keep that in mind. Will take pictures with it complete.

Just hooked up the amp and I have to say these speakers hit pretty damn hard. This really isn't my cup of tea though. Install was easy outcome = im a teenager again. Wow re-living 1990 all over again. I may end up selling my gear. And get a stock tray. And some other parts I have been wanting. This system is too much for an old man. I listen to talk radio most of the time.

I didnt have to take all that out when I first installed it. I did however have to take the panels out when I went to re-wire the amp. Because the side panels kinda squish it in there. I took the pictures after I took it back out. I just burnt a ministry of bass cd just to hear it thump. And it does hard..... to hard for me. What Amp do you have wingnut? I have a MTX Thunder 6500D that I got with the amp. :rockwoot:
