I Decided to "Blow" My Tax Return..............
And buy this bad boy:
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o240/ericginther/Lightning/Whipple001.jpg
I got it from a local guy who bought it a while back and never installed it. He decided to sell it so I jumped on it.
I put down 508HP / 545TQ with a ported Eaton in 98* weather. I'm told I should be over 600 easy with this thing.

Very nice. Those Whipple's do make some HP over the Eatons. There was a guy I knew that put one on his Cobra. The car went from the 450rwhp range to almost 650rwhp! Good pick!

Nice !!! In the back burners of my mind is this mod; Cut the top off of my Hughes ported kegger, mate a blower like your's to it, and set the works on the 2.02 R/T heads that I have comming.

The install is all done and she's running. Now I gotta get her to the dyno for a tune and see what kinda numbers she'll put down. :drive:

That my friend is sick.....well done.....
Although you at least need to adjust the position of the truck in the garage....the carbon deposits are gonna stain your floor :finger:
I will go ahead and say I am jealous.....cant beat that sound.....how about a video with a couple light throttle love taps ;)
I wanna hear it spool up
Nice truck!

Thanks man! I'll get some more vids of it making some real noise when it's on the dyno. :drive:
I'm scared to rev it too much right now cuz I have no idea where my tune stands. It's set up for the ported Eaton on pump gas during the winter temps. Now it's warming up and got the Whipple. It may be close enough, but it may also be way off. Dont wanna risk it yet. :(
Here's a vid of when I had it dyno'ed with the Eaton:

It's a 2003. Truck has about 18K miles on it, the engine has about 3000. The stock one let go when the previous owner installed a KenneBell. He built the current engine (forged) and was going to convert to a turbo but lost interest. He threw a stock ported Eaton on it and sold it.

I went to Katy and picked it up Friday. Started wrenching Saturday. Took my time, no rush, re-routed some other wires I wanted to clean up, etc etc.... Finished it Sunday afternoon.
It actually went really smooth cuz so much crap has been deleted under the hood like the EGR and boost bypass, stock fan/shroud, intercooler res, etc etc...
I got it for $3000
I can sell my other blower for at least $600 to recover a little of the cost. And I've got the Whipple CAI that I didn't use since I had my own polished intake. That oughta fetch another $100+ I'd guess.
Still not a cheap mod, but power costs money....... :rockwoot:
This is what a stock engine bay looks like - There is an engine under there somewhere:

I've never been to the track with it. I dont have any sticky tires. The 20's dont grip for crap..... ever. So.......... I have no idea what she does in the 1/4 mile. :(
With the ported Eaton it dyno'ed 508HP/545TQ on a hot day. I have an appointment for 8:30AM tomorrow to get it retuned with the Whipple. I'll post results afterwards. :drive:

Stock engine bay looks mucho boring. I still can't believe my truck with all the other stuff done to it had a bone stock engine other than a muffler. Not even a K&N drop in. Oh well, nothing to be fucked up on. Are you going to PSI today or tomorrow? I am not too far from there but I doubt I could sneak away if its not lunch time.

Sad part is...... if I did get busted by the wrong individual........ I'd probably pay a higher price than anyone else. They'd have to make an example outta me. :nono:

At least getting your truck with the engine un-molested, you were able to decide what you wanted to do with it. Mine was all done before hand and I'm having to figure it out as I go. Good and bad I guess.
I went to PSI today. Was there all day again, but he does a very thorough job and tunes it right.
I left the 6# lower pulley I already had on, and left the stock Whipple 3.375 upper on too. It made about 17#s boost.
Put down 609HP and 605TQ on pump gas.
I can still swap to an 8# lower and a 3.0 upper for over 20#s boost and push 650/700 on race gas. But why?
I need to borrow some drag wheels and get to the track and see what it'll run. :drive:

Hah, shit, it had enough power as is and now its even more of a dyno queen. Need to use some of next years money towards some DR's at the very least. I paid the truck off today so I rewarded myself a little. Haven't bought it yet but its time to get the turbo fund into gear.

Congrats on paying it off. Now boost the biatch! I bet that lil fugger with a turbo and manual tranny will be a quick blast to drive. :burnout:

Is insurance that high for you on full coverage? Mine was like 50 bux a month, so I just left full coverage on it.

Jason Watt's was even with the crappy 5speed. His new setup would be nuts to try and control. I want to practice welding with your Lincoln on this trunk lid from a Belvedere I have. Fix the hole in it and sell it. Got a lot of parts from '67 that could easily pay for a 60-1 Turbonetics :woot:

Doh, the lady was quoting me just the amounts for the truck not both so its not as big of a savings. Lame, its almost not worth it, especially if something happens. Getting rid of the $400 note the insurance payment is chump change.
