Has anyone thats boosted, swap out stock 3.92 gears for 4.10?

honestly, I would stick with the 392's... you're talking about a 200 RPM difference on the big end.

What kind of boost are we talking? The longer gears are kinda better for a centrifugally supercharged engine, since the boost dies off every shift.

but a tc can defeinitly make it less of a problem.

Its not going to make a difference at high RPMs. Your still making boost dependend on your RPM's.

I must have took you post the wrong way. I thought you ment the drop in rpms when you shift causing a drop in boost

not the jump from 3.92-4.10.. it's seriusly 200-500 RPM difference. Unless we're talking about something that makes over 1200HP...

Just 10#, didn't think I would lose much on the top end since it's not that big of a jump. Also thought it would get me in boost a little quicker..

Refrain from listening to my above post. I must have been tired, I didnt even relize I posted in this thread, and after reading my post, they make no sense. :rtfm:

And to answer the question. A higher stall along with some shorter gears would get you into boost quicker. But going form 3.92 to 4.10 is a very small jump and wouldnt be worth the labor in switching.

Actually, it's RPM and Engine load. The more load you put on the motor, the more the blower helps (to a point, of course). So, even if you were to lose a pound or two on the shift, because you're introducing more of a load with the taller gear it comes right back.

Unless you're doing the rear end anyway....some feel the 4.56s are too tall, but want a bit of improvement over the 3.92s...that's where the 4.10s come in. They help, but not by leaps and bounds.
