Looking into new wheels, and nobody sells good 6x4.5 wheels! :jester:

If you have rims OTHER than the stock 17x9 Dakota R/T wheels... POST EM UP! This means NO stock wheels.

Any size, color, finish, etc. List the name and size of the wheels/tires

Oh, and if your truck is lowered please specify amount. (i.e. 2/3 drop)

THANKS! :woot:

I have a pair of Colorado customs 18x10 Lazear 6's,that currently have 255/55-18 on them. They will probably wind up with some sort of sticky tire mounted on them however.
Then I have a set of CCW sp200 in a 19x10 with 275/40-19 tires.
I have a Hothckis drop.

Dakrt23,

More pics!

Sorry man I do not at the moment have any pics with them mounted on the truck.I spent a little over 4 hours on each wheel polishing them up right, then stacked them in the corner of the garage.I need to get a couple of other things done, and then I'll put them on.For now its resting on the stockers complete with the original tires.

You say plus 1" you mean you raised the truck back to stock dak height? or lowered an extra inch?

its hotchkis coils plus 1 inch lower... i cut the coils about 3 times to get the ride height where i wanted it up front, and i put 1" blocks out back with DJM 2" hangers... hotchkis sway bars and bilstein shocks for handling too...

255/55/17

These haven't been polished in about a year, they look sweet when I do them up. They don't weigh very much, espeically with the mustang tires on the front, lol. I'm looking to move the 255s back up front and get a bigger rear tire now that I have the blower.

Nice, very nice! Those are perfect. I absolutely HATE the look of 20s-22s-24s, and the "rubber band" sidewall look!

Thanks!!... i tend to agree with you on the rubber band look... even 20s/22/24s can look good on trucks when they have a tall sidewall tire on them, but our trucks just dont have enough wheelwell to make room for that tall of a tire (probably 30-33" tall)... i think 20 is about as big as you can go and have a tall enough sidewall to look good... 19s just seem made for these trucks so thats what im stickin with... just wish there were more tires available in 19"... love these KDW2s though...

Yep, even 20s are marginal, unless a Dakota is dropped waaaay down. My brother-in-law manages a Les Schwab tire dealership (big chain out here in the West) in Yakima, WA. He absolutely LOVES selling the 20-24" wheel / tire combinations. It's not IF you're going to bend a rim, just WHEN! He always tries to sell the buyer wheel / tire insurance --- because they're gonna need it! He also said MOST of those he sells the big wheels to, return after about a year or so, to buy a more sensible combination. Just look on Craigslist most any day---you'll see a LOT of used 20" wheel / tire combination, for sale. Most with less than 5k iles on them.

yeah.. .that was all fine and true 10+ years ago but now cars are coming factory with 20's and up. tried diffrent sized rims on my truck but it just didnt feel right having smaller rims than a neon. IMO

IMO... I thin k19th are the perfect wheel for the trucks. They look good, CCW's for ex.... not sure about tires though. I say 19th's and a 2/4

But there is a difference from putting aftermarket 20's on a vehicle that was never deisgned for them, and buying a car with them on from the factory. For one, the cars that come from the factory with them usually have larger diameter tires so the sidewalls are taller and also have larger wheel wells to acept the larger tires. Trying to stock a 20"+ wheel and keeping withint the stock 28" diameter tire will only result in stretching a rubber bad around a piece of aluminum, and then lowering the truck to make them look even halfway decent will still force you to use rubber bands to prevent rubbing your expensive new tires.

Here's a 29" tire on a 20" rim. doesn't look rubber bandy at all in my opinion.
The tire is 295/40/20 firehawk wide oval

MB Motoring Gunner 6's. 17x8 Fr. 18x8 Rr. 255-50-17's & 285-50-18's. My drop is about a 2.5 Fr & Rr/ I personally feel that 19's and or 20's are perfect for these trucks once they are lowered a min. of 2" all around.
