Would anyone have any ideas on why why truck would be burning though a cap and rotor about every 3 months. the terminals in the cap are turning white and the rotor is getting burned on the leading edge. This time it also set 2 codes P0173 with i think is cyl. #3 misfire, and P0127 with i think is a rich correction factor for a lean condition. any suggestions would help i got it at the dealer right now and they said after 2 days of looking they cant find anything.........

Do you have a completely stock ignition, are the 02 sensors good and what kind of spark plugs are you running also you may check the plug wires.

yes it is a stock ign. The wires are beldon from napa, only about a year old. I believe im running mopar plugs cuz they are the the last ones to change them. Oh and they also told me i had a cracked plug!!! nice that means they did it....
Anyway i havent checked the O2 sensors but you think the dealer in all there wisdom could identify a bad O2 sensor ..... or not

If you are relying on a dealer for diagnosis, thats the first part of your problem.
Are you positive they changed the cap & rotor? Its kind of an PIA with the stock manifold on there.

On our engines the Distributor does not control engine spark timing, the Dristributor contains the Cam Position Sensor so rotating the Distributor controls Fuel Injector Syncronization, ie. when the Injectors fire in relation to intake valve opening.

So I wonder if on some engines in order to get the correct Fuel Injector Sync, the Distributor has to be rotated until the spark event happens too far off the center of the contacts burning either the leading edge or trailing edge of the rotor or does it matter at all?

P0173 Fuel Trim Malfunction (Bank 2)
P0127 Intake Air Temperature Too high(IAT)

Sounds like you need to replace your IAT, and probably O2 sensors as wel.

Well I finally got my truck back and the dealer told me that the heads are bad AGAIN for the 3RD F#$%$^N time. This is getting alittle much. personally i think they just cant find the prob so they just keep throwing heads at it. Or the company who remans the heads for Dodge dont know the first thing about reman'ing heads. So what do you guys think? Are they full of it?
