Alright guys, we talked about it at Carlisle this year, having a huge turnout for next year's show. The DRTC Nats are on the west coast for '09, so this can be the east coast mini Nats for the guys that can't fly or drive to Reno.
If we can get at least 25 trucks, then we can get a free 20'x20' tent to use. There's a free kickoff party on Thurs night that sounds like fun, Sprint Car races Friday night, and I'm also going to contact the dyno owner to see if we can get a group discount.
Maybe we can chip in and get Sean to cook some of his kickass bbq for us, that alone should bring some people in :)
Just wanted to get people thinking about it early so you can get your vacation requests in and start putting some money aside for it. Hopefully gas stays cheap so everyone can make it.
Registration is open now, make sure you put DRTC for the club so we can get the free tent! It's $40 for the showfield, if we register 5 people together at a time it drops to $33 (includes admission for two people). There's more info on Carlisle's site:

Carlisle is not a racing meet by any means. It's a social gathering more than anything. Three days of drooling on cars with night time shenanigans.

Wife and kids are scheduled to go to VA beach that weekend I believe for a dance competition that will leave me all by my lonesome up here. Should work out good timing wise but need to make sure the better half and I are in sync with this. I understand now from Sean that this is more a social thing than anything else so having the R/T ready is not a big deal anymore. I'll take the beater up there if necessary. You plan on bringing your beast?
mtlcafan79
01-06-2009, 03:25 PM
Yes. I'm taking it if I still have it. Having your truck should be a priority though. It's starting to look goofy having anything but R/T's parked in the R/T section of the show field every year. Besides it looks cooler driving down the road and when we invade the hotel/other establisments. More trucks the better.

Yeah, a bunch of us were sitting there at Carlisle last year and we realized just how many people were showing up without their trucks (myself included). So we decided that our goal for this year would be to get more people to show up, with their trucks!

I'm hoping to switch out from the KB opti- and have Sean set me up with the SCT. The problems, in addition to the cost, are getting everything switched over. I have no clue how to proceed, and then getting the tune right, as I'm sure it will require some dyno time. For now the truck is just settin, buried in snow.

Convincing the lady of that, however, isn't working so well. She's wanting a nice wedding, but not huge (thank god!), she's going to have a large bridal party though (she's figuring 7 bridesmaids).

It is an all weekend show and shine for all Chrysler/Mopar built cars, trucks and vans. They also have a huge, and I mean huge, vendor area that will take an entire day in itself to walk through. Friday is the night they hit up the race track to watch the racing. I haven't been able to make it to that as I usually don't get there until later in the evening. Usually Saturday night after the show we get together for dinner and then hit up the go carts for an R/T demo derby, I mean race! :jester: Sunday we usually just hang out and chat and then everybody hits the road to go home in the afternoon. It is a blast just to be able to get together with everybody and hang out and look at some beautiful old and new iron!

I just started entertaining the idea of checking this out...I want to head up to Lancaster county sometime this summer anyway. I figure the weekend of the Carlisle show would probably be a good time, I wouldn't stay at a car show all weekend anyway...one day would be enough for me. I haven't read through this thread yet...but having a tent and Sean's bbq is enough to want me to come.

I'm having a pig roast at my house on Memorial Day Sunday if you want BBQ. I'm not bringing food to Carlisle. There's plenty of stuff to eat there.

Most folks pay for the showfield anyway, that way you don't have to park outside the fairgrounds and walk in, you just park with all the rest of the Daks. Make sure you come say hi to everyone, we don't bite (well, some do, so no sudden movements lol).

Still cookin at your place today? I might be able to drive the truck...kinda need a new axle shaft though (which I'm not going to be able to get until 7-8ish). I have a spare one now, I'm just not sure if it's the correct length so I'm going to check sometime in the afternoon. But maybe I'll see if the girlfriend wants to cruise up to MD if the axle shaft works out. We don't really have any other plans at this point, I'm just not really sure if the truck will be on the road or not. I don't mind driving it around town but I definitely wouldn't want to drive it up there with it the way it is. Wobbly wheel=tire wear.

I regret soldering on my MS injector harness, why do you want to get rid of the factory crimps? Those connectors see a good bit of heat. You can get MSD pn2400 for new GM style crimp pins and injector connectors, they are less prone to breaking, no plastic clips like the stockers.
I have some intermittant connection issues with the MS set up that I have yet to diagnose. (took off blower and MS to pass inspection) and I will be re-doing my harness with no solder at all when I put it back on.

Not the factory crimp connectors, I meant some crimped butt connectors that are on there. I had EV1 connectors spliced in, but went back to the stock EV6 connectors, and used crappy butt connectors to splice them in. But now I'm fixing that. And now that I think about it, some of the injector clips are broken, so I'm just going to put new ones on while I'm at it.

I've had no problems with my MS setup and it's all soldered. That sounds like a cold solder joint or a bad ground.

Could be, like I said I haven't went back and diagnosed it, but it is output related and I was doing fuel only, the injector harness is the only output.
I wouldn't want a soldered joint on my injector clips or the harness that runs between the manifold and the valve cover. If you have to make a splice I would use the "HD butt slice connectors" , the ones that have integral heatshrink and sealant with a proper tool. There are two schools of thought on this when making engine harnesses. Look at OEMs..... they crimp everything, and it lasts 100-500k miles

I am looking forward to Carlisle this year more than most years. Go-karts are going to be off the hook. Hope you rookies are prepared for that!

How much does the gocart racing cost? I'm trying to figure out roughly how much money I'll need all weekend before I pre register. My truck should be ready, not sure about my wallet yet. Are there any campgrounds somewhat nearby? I wouldn't mind pitching a tent for two nights.

Don't they say in all the erectile dysfunction pill commercials that should an erection last more than a couple hours, to seek medical attention immediately? Two nights...that's talking a whole new level.

Haha, I meant to camp instead of spend all that money on a hotel room.
Edit: Should I sign up for the Young Guns since I'm under 25, or the Showfield so I'm not excluded from the rest of the club and I can contribute to getting a 20x20 tent? Or does it not matter? The online sign-up is different from the mail-in one...I got confused.
This link to register online shows you either register for the showfield, or for the young guns:
http://store.carlisleevents.com/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=CE&Category_Code=CANU
This link is the showfield registration form, and there's a checkbox to be included in the young guns: (beware, PDF file)

So what the hell is the deal, anyone care to help my dumbass out since I don't get it?

I just called them and we have 17 people registered under the club, almost there!
Everyone needs to remember that if you forgot to put the club name when you registered, all you have to do is give them a call at (717) 243-7855 and have it added to your registration.

Ditto, the thought of maybe getting a prize or whatever is pretty awesome. Imagine that, on top of all the fun we know we're going to have already...winning a trophy or something. That'd be icing on the cake. A dakota r/t got 3rd place last year too haha.
So we're up to 20 now for dakota r/t club? I'd be 21, except my account balance finally got updated, I'm at $20.55. Fuck. I hope I can use a friend's card and pay them cash because I can't deposit any money until the 22nd and by that time the price will be $50 instead of $40 haha.
