Went to Englishtown, NJ today and ran a new best...... 13.21 at 105mph with a 1.93 60ft time. Finally got my shift points close to where they need to be.... a little more tweaking might get me a 13.15 or so. I am realizing now that I just need a little extra power to get in the 12's without weight reduction. I ran the truck with the QTP slicks but in full street trim even with the tailgate on. Im not sure what else I can do. Im gonna dyno the truck with an M1 4bbl and see if that picks up any power. If not then I think im sending the eddy heads and m1 2bbl to Ryan at Shady Dell so he can do the valve job and stage 3 porting. Might also pick up a 52x55 F&B to upgrade from my 52mm F&B if necessary.

lighter, skinnier front wheels might help!

definately.... but i dont want to make the truck anything else other than pure street. i wanna be able to tell people its a 12 second truck without a blower without nitrous without having to take off the tailgate and vinyl tonneau cover and without light weight wheels. only weight reduction i plan on doing is what ive already done like the rollpan, removing the ac compressor and radiator, removing the spare, and ending the exhaust before the axle. thats all stuff thats permanent and how i drive it on the street so its not really considered cheating or anything you know?

Nice job!

Porting the Eddys could get you 12's. If not, you might need a lil more aggresive cam/stall combo.

thanks. im kinda wishing i went with a slightly bigger cam from the beginning but im stuck with it for now at least. ill prob go with the stage 3 porting on the heads and m1 and hope for the best. not much else to really do without changing pistons or stroking it.

Nice. I'd save my money from the TB and put it towards the heads.

i was thinking that too..... the 52mm unit should be enough to support any 360 combo unless i get a huge cam in there or something. ill prob save getting a bigger TB for a last resort.

Like I said, the restriction is not your heads or manifold. 52x55...It's hard to have a tb that's too big with fuel injection that is tuned for all changes made. Another thing, I have stock heads/cam and with the tb and shorty headers I knocked off 6 tenths off my et for a 13.90. I have NO bog issues or loss of bottom end that is noticeable. @ .500 lift the Eddy's will support over 500 hp period, the end. If you want bog, have the heads hogged out along with the intake.

The timing on your SCT tune has a lot to do with that no bog I bet.

so ur saying the 52x55mm should be the last piece to the puzzle and get me a 12.9? i mean i can try it out and see what happens. only thing is i have to modify the manifold opening to accept this TB.

I added one to my TKO truck. 1.92 R/T heads, 210 cam. Gained nothing but a lighter wallet moving up from a 52mm TB.

I'm just saying that if you go through with porting heads and everything else, why not try a tb that will compliment the changes first. You do't need ported Eddy's though.

I'll leave it up to you guys what to take away from this, but the only changes I made from last trip to the track was from a well ported stocker tb bored to true 50mm going to a 52x55, opened m1 plenum, gasket matched, and the little eddy shorty headers.

Using your combo, surely it can use more cfm than my stock long block. Step by step, I would try the tb, porting the plenum opening to match (you have to), gasket match the intake runners to the heads with an intake gasket. I'm very sure there is some flow there because air DOES NOT like steps from small to large, it pinches airflow smaller than than the intake runner opening already was. I mean, you have eddy heads and it surely has a bit more cross sectional area.

guess i have some experimenting to do. i already have an m1 4bbl on the way that im gonna see if it makes any power differences on a dyno. then ill prob get a 52x55mm TB and try that out. if neither one makes much of a difference than ill just end up going with whichever TB is best and porting the heads and m1 2bbl that i already have on the truck. whatever happens ill let you all know the results of the tests and maybe this can help for people in the future trying to accomplish the same type of thing. is it gonna be ok that my engine is exposed to the air for however long it will take the heads to get ported?

Could spray it with a lil bit of WD40 and then cover it, maybe with plastic wrap?

Congrats on the new best

I hate to hijack the thread, but you pretty much have the exact same engine build that I plan on doing to my truck. I have a couple questions that I hope you dont mind answering. First, how is the driveability of your truck with the mods? is it tolerable for semi-daily driving? and would you change anything with your build-up? (minus what was discussed in this thread) Ohhh and one more thing, what kind of gas mileage are you getting now compared to when it was stock? I appreciate any advice you can give :hail:

The driveability is great. The 3000 stall makes the engine rev a little higher under normal acceleration but besides that its a great daily driver. The 210x cam made the gas mileage go down from stock by a noticeable amount. The eddy heads are wonderful and I think they are a HUGE improvement over stock. If I could go back in time I would change a few things. I'd have the eddy heads and m1 intake stage 3 ported and matched to each other by ryan at shady dell, id have the f&b 52x55mm instead of the 52mm and lastly instead of the 210x id go for something along the lines of a 218/228 536/544 on a 112 centerline. If you dont need to extract every last hp out of the engine though then the combo i have is a great combo.

man I am really impressed with the truck and your times. 13.21 @ 105, thats flyin.

keep us posted on if you get the heads ported. I don't see how a 52x55 vs the 52 could get you 3/10ths, but ported heads may be a start!

thanks..... first im gonna try the m1 4bbl i just got along with a 52x55 TB and see if I pick up any power. If not then im gonna stick with the bigger TB but go back to the m1 2bbl and have it ported with the heads.
