After much ado it looks as my money will be better soon. So my RT with blown engine is back in the project cue.

Will be doing carb and 727. Big block with ly rods and factory forged crank sitting in corner of shop....

Step one will be stripping it of garbage it doesn't need.

OK, best guidance I can give you is build a small block, the end!

Ok I'll bite, but elaborate.

weight and internal stress is higher with the bb. What block do you have? If it was already build and you have it. I don't see a reason to build a small block. Might as well use what you have. Plenty of big blocks out there running the strip.

Im pretty sure my 360 has a hole in cylinder wall. borescope showed nasty stuff in #8... not completely sure till its out and I pop the heads off.

the RB is a motorhome 413 which is a under-bored 440. junkyard man owed me money and that's what I got. actual cost was negligible. either way a engine build will be required.

LOL, what year block? because the only useful parts from motorhome big blocks are the blocks them selves, the heads are junk, the rotating assembly is junk, the blocks are OK but not the best. I would scrap that garbage and buy a Gen III hemi and make real power!

Weight is #1, #2 you can wind up a small block a lot faster than a BB

In My opinion, if it's a naturally aspirated street truck and you want a stout 450 ish hp, build a small block. Race only/ Big NA hp numbers, trim the inner fenders, and stuff a BB in it. waaaaay more hp potential for cheap.

I can smack the rev limiter right now with my BB :idunno: and there's no point building a small block because "they rev better" if you don't have massive heads and a solid roller, they'll both pull to roughly the same RPM.

well lets set the whole motor issue to the side. any insight on chassis setup, cage install, 5 lug vs 6 ect cost as it relates to drag setup.

Good luck on your build no matter how you do it.

If my smallblock ever becomes deceased - a Gen III Hemi will go in it's place. Of course that would probably result in having to get a license and more safety requirements, but what the hell..... It might be fun.
