I just got a new fiberglass hood and now I need to take the springs off the hinges. I'm just wondering how you guys took the springs off. Pics would be appreciated.

I think rob did his so it wouldn't push it up in the back. But I forgot what he did. Search for posts under his name.

unbolt the nut on each side in this location:

then simply pop the arms off (while holding the hood up) and tuck them back/down out of the way. when you want to leave your hood open you simply pull them back up (i only use one most of the time) and pop them back on the studs for hood props.

So just take that nut off the bolt and slip the bar off? Wouldn't the bar be under tension from the spring? Didnt really get a good look at the hinge last night when I was putting the hood on.

The AAR fiberglass cowl hood.

The bar is only under pressure when you close the hood. With the hood all the way open, push up slightly on the hood to take the weight off the bar and pop it off. Did this on mine a while ago and it helped the bowing a lot.

haha sorry Rob, wasnt doubting your word. I just thought that it might be on some sort of tension which is why I was a bit skeptical.

BTW, I went ahead and did it and it works beautifully :woot:
