all i really know for head work is 5 angle valve job, port clean up, gasket match, and bowl hogging. im not tryin to go all out here but lookin for any suggestions that could help, ill be goin with a 5 angle valve job, no porting, was told these heads need no port cleaning from casting. also theyll be SS 2.02 and 1.62 on valves, hughes springs, locks and retainers. any other suggestions? i dont want to be lookin at the heads to be rebuilt but something that will last

To say that a head doesn't "need" porting is a lil misleading. You can run any head unported, but you're limiting their potential. I say if you can afford to get 'em ported, do it. Also, what heads are we talking about here? The Eddy's flow pretty decent out of the box, but I'd still get 'em ported if you can. Plus they shave a good bit of weight off the front end

What you are looking to do is pretty much a complete port job. Gasket matching, 5 angle and bowl work, that only leaves decking them to up the compression ratio, or maybe cutting spring reliefs too.

they are the heavy duty casted heads that are much like the r/t heads but flow better

he's prob talking about hughes engines iron ram hd heads i think they run around $900 w oversize valves and a little bit of prep work then you need springs, retainers and locks.

With a competent cylinder head guy, I'd be surprised if you could notice the difference at all between these three heads. Get them off to a good shop, tell them your intended application, and let them decide what to do for you. If you are by any means considering any port work, do it now before in you install the heads.

arent the hughes iron ram heads based on the stock magnums? i would contact TICO RACING they do alot with dodge heads, or modern cylinder heads

hughes hd heads are compared to the oem, "hd", and r/t heads, these arent comin from hughes tho but just some parts, i talked to the guy im orderin from and he said they really dont need any work at all but a 5 angle valve job will be done, soon as he gets the parts in the heads will be worked on and setup in 1 day and shipped the next, talk about good service.

There's info about them over on Moparts if you search. Somehow an Australian company comes into play IIRC.

there used to be a company called pro-topline in australia that made high performance magnum heads, i think the got bought out by rhs heads because the were carrying magnum heads awhile back. id be interested in seeing all three ported and compared to eachother
