wondering how long to actually expect them to last, they say 15,000 miles.... im happy with 15,000 miles just don't want them to be toast in 3-5,000 which is what im worried about lol. anybody with real world experience?

my driving: heavily spirited, no actual brake stands but many squeal outs, spin across an intersection w/o using brake, power slide corners in 2nd, etc

looking for something that maybe will get a little better hook than a radial but don't want a full slick or a tire that will only last 5k

also needs to come in the sixe 275/60R15

I have a hard time getting 15k miles out of a normal tire. But I liked my 555Rs when I had them. Not sure 15k miles is realistic on a drag radial though.

yea that's what has me worried lol, they aren't a true drag radial tho which is what had me thinking, they have 6/32nd's of tread depth to start with.... bfg radtial t/a's or hankook 101's are my other option but start with 10.5ish/32nd's tread depth which is more what id be used to...

15k miles is gonna be like 5 years on this truck too tho so I guess if I got 8k miles and 3 years what's the difference really...

I know my nitto NT450's wear really bad just from power pulls, stand on it from 15mph and watch it not spin but leave rubber on the road while accelerating. They're basically slicks already and I have about 8000 Km's on them. fronts are like brand new though

osee, any noticeable handling improvements with these tires on the front as well? im gonna think on it for a few days but im about to say screw it and order a set.....I couldn't imagine a power pull from 15mph not spinning tires lol

they're not that grippy, it's just that I make roughly 170hp on a good day :P

Thanks for the input guys, i'm still torn on what to do, probably just going to go with a radial that I am more familiar with its handling characteristics, I don't race so probably don't need them to be that sticky anyways, i'm thinking that the tires I currently have are just old and hard and maybe just a new radial will be an improvement, also the 275/60R15 is one inch taller and .8 inches wider than my current tire which will help too.

When I bought my chrome R/T's they had 275/60's on them, too tall in my opinion.

that's actually the stock 28" tire height on my 1995 and only 1 inch bigger than what I have currently so I cant imagine it being too big, lol I was thinking about going to a 29 or 30" but couldn't find one as wide as I wanted without it being a 250$ each tire plus install and tax. I also have 15" rims and im assuming your r/t rim came with 16 or 17" rims so maybe that was the difference....im not real good with the tire size conversions in my head I always have to plug in into a conversion calculator to inches

yea a 275/60R17 is 30" tall and the size im after is 275/60R15 which is 28" tall, at least Im assuming you had 17" r/t rims, I know they made a few different styles, my truck isn't a true r/t so I guess im not sure tho

If you are concerned with handling, as in cornering, you don't want a drag radial. They are meant for straight line, not corner carving.

325 50 15 out back here. I like em alot for the street. no problems in the rain. Hook ok at the track with 1.74 60 ft. vs 1.59-1.62 short times with slicks.

so I went with the 275/60R15 bf Goodrich radial t/a's, cant believe the poor traction and handling of the tire, LOL, my 255/60R15 firestone firehawks were way better but unfortunately no longer made. I also decided that maybe I don't have quite the power or gear to run the 275/60R15's... so after a few hard power pulls and losing traction about 10 times while seeing how they will hold the road I gave the bf Goodrich's back to the tire place (got them from the dealership I work at, I hope I get my money back out of them, lol they still had 11/32nd's but the leading edges of the knobs were showing some pretty good wear in the 60 miles I put on them) I ended up going back to the 255/60R15 in the cooper cobra g/t and they actually look like a higher end tire due to the "beauty bands/Cobra heads" and hold the road pretty good, handling was restored equal to my trail hawks and traction is like it was but a little better. im thinking my firehawks were just old and hard and that was my traction issue all along and I didn't need a bigger tire in the first place.....

Thanks for the help guys, ill still think about a stickier tire next time, but until I can see more real world reviews on something its hard to justify a tire that will only last 15,000 miles if I baby it on a vehicle that never gets babied, If I knew they'd get 5,000mi I would have gone with them

I put the cooper Zeon RS3-As on my Spirit R/T. I like them alot. 500 tredwear but good traction.
