I just recently installed the mopar pcm. it says my shift points should be 5200 rpms. from frist to second gear the truck shifts at 5500 rpms and then 5200 at all the other gears. is this normal? can it be fixed to shift at 5200?

Mine did this when I first installed it. Unless your combo warrents it, you'll want to lower the shift a bit by making the TV cable less agressive. The truck will be faster, unless you have a reason to wind it out that much, don't.
With my mods my power peak is at 4900rpm, and I have my shift points set to 5200, beyond that you can tell its running outta steam. Besides, its extra wear and tear on your factory valvetrain, which is sketchy around 5500 anyway.
EDIT: Hey Jerry, your combo would run best at 5200 for sure.

If you don't know how, don't do it. Seriously. Take it somewhere, or let someone more experienced play with it.

its not really that hard to adjust but u can get assbakwards pretty quick. When i changed out my tranny last year i dicked around with mine for prob. 30 min. til i got it set right. It is pretty sensitive you can move it one way and at open throttle it won't shift, move it the other and it shifts at 4500. Its all about finding a happy medium.
thats how mine is. 1-2 its 5500 and then 2-3 is 5200, i dont go WOT into OD so i dont know where it would go at. did it once when i first got the truck and it scared me and went into it way too hard. I have thought about backing the TV cable off a notch because Im still using the stock valvetrain, but its pulling so hard up there anyway. I dont feel like its running out of steam at all.

I have a b&g m1 flash and it shifts at 5400 in first and second. but when i had the factory program it shifted at 5000in first and 4800 in second. It definatly runs better now than it did.

the truck does run out of steam at those rmps... the truck is not making much power after 5200 so it pointless to shift at 5500 or higher. i race my buddies truck and in first gear i pull on him until i hit 5500, then he pulls up on me, then when i hit second hit start pulling again. even with the m1 the stock heads are not ment for those rpms, especially with the stock cam. if you get your truck dynoed you will see where your power dies
can you hurt a transmmision if it is shifting WAY toooo early????
