Compared to most but Im not upset especially for only having only a few performance mods. The weather was perfect but for some damn reason I hit the limiter shifting into 3rd EVERY damn time lol. Guess Im still used to the old truck and revving it past 5500. Who knows. :jester:
The best I could manage was a 8.95@77.98 with a 1.98 60'
on M&H's. I definitely think I lost some power swapping to the 14x3 Open element.
The highlight of my evening was the Black Challenger SRT-8 out there. He could only muster up a 9.02 on street tires. BUT We did meet up on the way home as well and I got SMOKED!!!! I rolled past him and gave him a friendly "nice ride" honk and went on my way. Well he came back alongside once we got some open traffic so I gave it a lil goose to see if he'd play and he took off on me!!!!! WTF MATE!!! Needless to say I wasn't gonna catch him and he put an easy 5 or so cars from 70-110. OK and heres the vid.

This is the final race for me this year though and now it's time for heads , cam, stall, gears, and some juice. :woot:
I got so many compliments though which makes me happy in the pants.

Hmmm. You kinda almost SORTA held with him. It's not like he was like a fuckin rocket. I'd say if you went from the hole, it'd pretty much be an even match. Real close. That's pretty sad though that at the track, you beat his time. Our trucks cost like 3 times less....Plus...they're trucks..lol
Motor trend says they do a 1/4 in 13.1. Maybe he was a bad driver. Cause you said you have FEW performance mods. I have a full bolt-on engine AND nitrous, and only get about .4 quicker.
WOW though. I just read that the Challengers weigh in at 4137lbs! Dang.

Kinda almost sorta :jester: Yeah he got the jump on me which definitely made it look worse that what it really was. I tried to catch him at a light but no dice.
He was on street tires also but I didnt get to see his launch. i was coming down the return road as he crossed the line.

This doesn't surprise me one bit.
Chargers/Challengers are definitely not drag racing machines out of the box. They don't have posi (yet), they have 3.06 gears, and they have heavy 20" wheels with 255-width tires trying to stick with 425hp, even though the ~400hp versions of the Vette & Viper always came with 315-345 width tires.
On the highway, the SRT-8 is an absolute monster. The 6.1L Hemi is definitely a top-heavy motor, coming on insanely strong from 3500-6200rpm, and the gearing is great for high speeds. I used to pull like a freight train on the highway, could pass anyone at any time.

Sadly, yes - a couple of weeks ago I traded it in for a 2008 Dodge Ram QC SLT. As much as I loved my SRT-8, I just didn't need it anymore. The Dakota R/T became my premier playtoy, and I want to try to buy a house while the prices are down. The SRT-8's payments were pretty high since I bought it with $0 down, and Dodge is absolutely unloading the 2008 Rams to make way for the 2009's. This way I can bring my kids along to racing events, something I couldn't do with just the R/T.
