I need some ideas. I stared at the engine for like 20 minutes, and still never found a good spot to mount my nitrous management unit. I'm hoping to get it all setup tomorrow. Please tell me or show me with some pictures where you mounted yours.
Here's a picture of the engine bay, and as you can see, not much room to mount it.

Here's a picture of the NMU with a crisp, beautiful new dollar for size comparison. Lol.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i170/Ryacuski/0919082334.jpg
As you can see, it's pretty darn big. I have big hands.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i170/Ryacuski/0919082334a.jpg
This is where I decided to mount the bottle. Here's a before and after...

The brackets just bolt right to the floor pan.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i170/Ryacuski/0919081902.jpg
Summary is I'm putting in a Zex system, I need to get an idea of where to mount the NMU, cause I can't really do anything else until I figure that part out.
Why not rotate your CAI forward a little and mount it on the passenger side fender. Either that, or remove the EVAP purge solenoid from the wiper cowl area and mount it there.

remove the wiper arms and then the cowl, mount it underneath for a clean installation!

x2.. Thats what I was going to suggest. Makes it stealthy.

Hmmm.....Sounds pretty nice. I even thought abour the fender idea myself. I was hoping to get it on the right side of the vehicle though. My switch is on that side, the tps sensor, the ground, the fuel line I'm running. So the right side is almost a must. They give a shit load of extra wire and slack of piping, but still. Wanna have a clean look. I'll go take a look at and try to figure it out. My newest problem is that my drill doesn't hold a bit big enough to drill a hole in the floor to run my line through. The line fits, but the threaded end doesn't go through. I'll have to get a round file, and grind that thing for like an hour. Lol.:jester:

There is where I am about to mount the Jet.

Piping runs right down and through the right side of the truck near the headers.

My switch wire runs right under the wiper cowl. (This is near the NMU)
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i170/Ryacuski/0920081816.jpg
I ran it to the left side of the truck since that's closer to my switch I'm mounting inside. It goes through the hole that was already there, and goes through the firwall with all the other masses of wires.

Here she is folks!!! The switch is all mounted and wired up. Wasn't easy. Where I mounted the switch, there was a nice plastic wall there. The spot I picked was too perfect, had to grind it away.

All that's left is to wire the TPS, and add my fuel line which I am planning on tapping from the driver side fuel rail. If that should not work, I'll cut the fuel hose and add a barbed tee fiting. Should be up and running tomorrow hopefully. :woot:

What may I ask did YOU do then?? Or are you running a dry shot?

Tap into the schrader valve on the fuel rail.

You shouldn't need a backup plan. The schrader valve will work.

Holy crap!! I feel sorry for that guy!
But hey, good news. I'm completely done with the install. Everything is wired up and ready to go. The fuel line was extremely easy to set up just by taking the schrader core out. Piece-o-cake. Only problem is, I can't find a place that sells nitrous.:jerkit:
Hey Mark. Since you're near me, where do you fill up? A guy referred me to a place called Suja 1 in Carol Stream, IL. Fuck that if you think I'm driving an hour away just to get my bottle refilled everytime. Anyplace local in Crystal Lake area???

Speed Inc in Schaumburg can fill bottles. I fill up with the guy who did my exhaust, but he's in Ringwood. Either way you're looking at a half hour drive or so to fill up.

Umm, that's actually required if you want to race at the track. The blow down tube has to be vented outside the cab.

My M1 still needs to go on. I also need to pick up a set of drag radials. I have the wheels, just need the tires.
Like Brian said, that blowdown tube will be required to race at a track. You MIGHT be able to get away with it at Byron for T&T. They don't inspect for shit.

Yeah, I will get one once my bottle is empty. Was $43 to fill it up. I'm not gonna waste that.
Also. For anyone who's interested. I used it for the first time yesterday. It was rush hour all the way back home from getting it filled. I was almost home, and was first to the light to turn left. I opened my bottle, and flipped the switch. I made my turn nice and easy. The speed limit was 35 on this road. So I went into second gear at 30 and PUNCHED IT. I had just enough time to say "OH SHIT!!" before I looked down and realized I was doing 60. :jester: WHAT A RUSH! NITROUS FUCKIN KICKS ASS!!:hail::hail::hail:

I'm a nitrous junkie too.
I don't have a blow down on mine, but do you have to unscrew the burst disc to attach the tube? If not, it wouldn't matter if the bottle was full.
EDIT: I believe if the bottle valve is closed, the burst disc is useless anyway, so all you'd have to do is close the bottle and remove the disc keeper, then attach the tube. Oh well, I'm rambling. Just a thought or two.

Installing the blowdown tube is as simple as unscrewing the top safety disc, and screwing in the tube. Same function as disc, but instead of releasing pressure straight from the valve, it's routed through the tube so I don't die from breathing it. Lol.

Ohh...I getcha. I really don't know if it would release all the nitrous. I think it would since if the pressure gets too high from heat, even if the valve is closed, it should release the pressure. But honestly, I don't wanna find out. I'll just wait til the bottles empty.:D

yep nitrous is the shit for sure. where you can really tell is click it on when you have it floored going about 40 right after it shifts into 2nd gear and then flip the switch it feels rediculous if the tires hold it. Or run it at the track dead out the hole on slicks or drag radials and pull 1.5-1.6 60 footers.

I gotta try that now.
Now that I got the bottle, I need a pressure gauge. I already have a 3 gauge pillar post. So these are the 3 gauges I plan on putting in it. Order goes from the ceiling to the dash..
This is just like a G-Tech, but in a 2 1/16" gauge. Tells you the horsepower, 1/4 mile time and speed, 0-60, reaction time, 60-0, acceleration G's, and lateral g's. (I'm excited about this one. Lol. That's why it'll be on top so the buttons are within ease to press.)
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i170/Ryacuski/Gauge3.jpg
This is a pretty important gauge now that I have nitrous. It'll go in the middle.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i170/Ryacuski/Gauge1.jpg
And finally, this is my nitrous pressure gauge. Will be on the bottom since there's nothing you can do to it but "read" it.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i170/Ryacuski/Gauge2.jpg
What I love is that they all match!!:rockwoot: It's a petpeeve of mine having mix and match gauges from different brands. These are all made by AutoMeter, fromt he Cobalt series so they match.!!

A wide band will give you the true air to fuel ratio. A narrow band is really just an in-accurate light show. I'm using the Innovate LC-1. It's a wide band controller and oxygen sensor. I hook it up to my laptop to data log it's outputs. It can also be hooked up to a wide band gauge.

Do you really need the g-tech gauge that measures all that stuff. I like going to the track or the dyno to get real world numbers. Plus it opens up another hole for a gauge that serves for something a little more important maybe (good oil pressure guage, fuel pressure gauge, tranny temp gauge)

The bigger shots are going to eventually bring you're tranny to it's knees. When you upgrade, a tranny temp gauge will be something you'll want.

Don't NEED it. Just really neat to have. And the dragstrip is an hour and a half away. With gas prices, I never really go. Takes almost an entire tank there, racing, and back. And Dyno time is like $70-90 for a couple pulls. Gauge pays for itself for all the info it suplies. I really only got the gauge pod for the nitrous pressure gauge and the air/fuel ratio gauge since those are the main ones you "need" when you have nitrous. (I have the 3 gauge pod cause I scored it for free in brand new condition!! Thought I'd throw in that nifty all-in-one gauge to fill the last void.)

Hour and a half? How slow do you drive? 45 minutes from McHenry if I go through Marengo to 90.

Agreed.
The bigger shots are going to eventually bring you're tranny to it's knees. When you upgrade, a tranny temp gauge will be something you'll want.
That's not necessarily a given. My R/T is still on it's original, un-rebuilt 46re. It has about 107,000 miles on it. It has a 408 stroker with a 150 shot, which has netted me a best of 1.58 60' with slicks. It has literally 100's of passes on it too.

When I went last time with Mike and Joe, we were fuckin flyin there! We'd be behind a car doing 80 in a 55, and THEY PASSED HIM. About 40% of the time, we were doing 100+. On the way home, I just couldn't keep up. Mine has a speed limiter. They were crankin out 150mph. Needless to say, I drove home alone since I never caught up.:jester: Oh and every single stop or red light was like the christmas tree. All 3 of us would peel out and speed off. THAT'S why I went through an entire tank of gas there and back.
So I honestly don't think I can get there in 45 minutes. Not with the way I take at least. (Higgins [72])

At least with the spray, I have a fighting chance. But when I went to Mike's house to show him the Zex install job I did. HE TOO is putting nitrous on his Camaro! That bastard! Lol. So now he'll kill me. He'll have 420hp at the wheels. I only have 370. :( I'm heavier AND have no aerodynamics.
