Bored in the airport, figured I'd start a thread for my Giants

Gonna be a beautiful upset today, so much for the Pat's perfect season :nana:

I don't follow the NFL that much, I'm a hardcore college fan, so the outcome of this game doesn't really mean that much to me.....

But don't you guys want to see history today? I want the Patriots to win just to say that I saw it done in my lifetime, something most people probably won't be able to say again for a long long time. Its the same reason I want Tiger Woods to annihilate everyone every time he steps onto a golf course.

If they did it without all of the speculation, then yes.

You're referring to the video taping of games and signs? That does kinda suck that thats happening to them, but don't you think other teams do the same stuff? Probably not anymore, but I'd be willing to bet most teams did that until the Pats got caught. Who really knows though.

They got caught cheating at the beginning of the season...that should've automatically DQ'd them from the playoffs IMO... FUCK the Patriots....I don't feel they should be in the Bowl... :bs:

Even if other teams were doing it, it doesn't make it right....and the Patriots got caught. That's just like stealing/copying their opponents' playbook...and that IS cheating.

You're right, I'm just saying that they're just the ones who go caught. Its unfortunate that they're the ones hanging for something that everyone probably does.

Good point though, that doesn't make it right. I think the reason they didn't DQ them is because money first and foremost, and cause deep down they know it was probably commonplace for teams to do that.

What is the diffrence from watching game tapes before you play a team or going and watching the game in person.

Uh, they were taping the coaches! They tape coaches signals, then tape the play that comes after said signal = the Pats knew what play was coming.

Bill Parcells made a comment recently about how if you think that other teams haven't been trying to intercept each other's play calls, then you're ignorant. Every team in every sport is always on the lookout for an advantage - baseball teams have been trying to translate calls for over 100 years.

The Patriots got caught. Almost nobody in the NFL really gave a shit at first, until the politically correct bitchy whiny motherfucking public got their panties in a bind, so they slapped their wrist.

If anything, I think this makes the Patriots' season even more valid, because you know every single team in the NFL immediately changed all their calls the second this story broke, and I wouldn't be surprised if they created unique ones just for games vs. the Patriots so they couldn't gain an advantage from other 2007 regular season games.

Barry Bonds is far from the first baseball player to be accused of using steroids - one of the big reasons that so many people have focused on him is because he's such an egotistical asshole, lots of MLB people are enjoying watching him squirm under the spotlight.

He didn't look to be squirming too much when I seen him at the UFC event last night. Asshole or not, he was about to break a record, as the Pats are, that's why it's being talked about.

I'm really pissed off at the officiating of that game, they let a lot of calls slide against the Giants (ie: Toomer's pushoff right to the facemask on that deep blooper before halftime).

I'm also still trying to figure out how it's ok for the Pats to land right on a fumble (can see it plain as day on TV), but as they're peeling guys off the pile one of the Giants players rolls over the Pats player and takes the ball out of his hands, and the refs call it Giants ball - TWICE.

Either way, the Giants definitely had the Patriots' number when it came to the way their defense played. The Patriots' offensive line didn't look anywhere near as good as they had all year, Belicheck waited way way way too long to convert to the pump & dump offense that worked so well throughout the playoffs. On some plays the Giants defense was on the receiver/runner so efficiently you have to wonder if the rest of the league chipped in with their intel in a reverse Spygate ;)

i gotta agree, i saw quite a few crappy calls.

no excuse for the pats offense choking up so damn bad tho! they just did not represent like they have all the rest of the year.

That's how fumbles work, it doesn't matter who gets to the ball first, it only matters who has it when they finish pulling the pile apart. There were some bad calls the other way too, like the slap to Hixon's head, which the ref saw and even walked up and said something about it, where was the flag?

But none of that matters now, cause the Pats went home 18-1 baby!!! Gotta love it :D

it was shock and awe baby! haha, i was thinking to myself, well looks like the pats are gonna win. then, out of nowhere, eli pulls through. that guy was wide open in the end zone! amazing! i couldn't believe it. the patriots section in the bar i was at was silenced. lol.

That might be how it worked, but thats not how its supposed to work. With that logic, whenever someone gets tackled, you can just rip the ball out when they're laying on it and say oh well i've got the ball when we both get up, so its mine. I know its harder to call it and be fair when there is a big pile-up but that one was obvious as hell.

Well yes and no. It's all about who has posession of the football. If you're the offense and you get tackled, once you're down and the whistle is blown you can't rip the ball out of anyones arms and claim that it's your ball.

However, once a team fumbles the ball it becomes a live ball that nobody has posession of. So whoever comes up with the football is actually the team with posession of the ball, whether it's stripped from someone in the pile or not. The Pats player clearly fell on the ball but he didn't do a good enough job of hanging on to it. Nor did he garner enough help from his teammates to help him maintain the ball.

Anyway, enough Monday morning QB'ing from me. The game is over, the Giants won. And as long as sports will continue their will always be questionable calls.

I thought his set list could've been better. Runnin' Down a Dream was about the only song I REALLY liked out of that set....and he's got WAY better songs than American Girl and Free-balli....er, Free-fallin'.
