A buddy of mine has an 02 Dakota with a 4.7 V8 five speed and the three basic power adders (SCT, exhaust and Cold air intake) Pretty much the same things as my truck and I've rode in it and it's pretty quick. Who would win? I've got the bigger motor but he's got a better transmission with less loss of power to the wheels.

What's the cab configuration of each truck? Is he a good driver? What mods do you have, specifically?

The only way to know for sure is to line em up at the track!

Both regular cabs. I have SCT tuner, dual 3 inch pipes no cats to Dynomax bullets, K&N cold air intake and 100 horse injectors

Slightly bigger injectors, and he's been racing auto cross and dirt track racing for 10 years. I just started last year

I'd say the 4.7 will beat you if he's running 3.92 gears and a posi unit. If he has 3.55 gears or no posi - then you will get him from a dig. If you guys race from a roll he will probably get you thanks to the more efficient transmission in the 5-speed.

For the record, my 4.7 will spank the shit outta stock R/Ts.

Those 100 horse injectors are probably slowing you down.

I say just line them up. but there is a rc 4.7 bolt on truck local to me that is pretty mean, i've personally seen it go 8.86 but that was on my radials with 4.56 gears. As a matter of fact he is using my tires again next weekend on a 100 shot.

This means you need more mods! Can't let a lowly 4.7 show you up! :jester:

Won't have to worry about it any more his motor broke time today so he has to swap motors!

Remember this, "A fast driver can make a slow truck fast, and a slow driver can make a fast truck slow." Not saying you are slow, but the driver with his experience, makes up for a lot of it. Beef up your trans, then practice, practice, practice.

I am gonna chime in that you didn't lose to a 4.7 you lost to an NV3500. My 95 5.2 NV3500 dakota stock would kill my stock R/T every time. But he killed it out running you so that's kind of a win. Lol
